(when Bela Lugosi was in his downward spiral, Sinatra sent him money) As a child, Frank apparently loved westerns and horror movies, so meeting these guys meant a lot to him. Funny. I love the way Danny's cigarette dangles out of the corner of his mouth when he talks, but never falls, lol...
Lestall
I keep hearing "Danny" all the time after I watch this movie. Robert does look sneaky, good role for him.

JackFavell
Dead of Night is on this morning, and I just realized..... Bronxie, do you have a crush on either of these fellows? One of them reminds me of Bert Wheeler:

Bronxgirl48
Today's discussion with Mom: Mom: "So Charles Boyer is Dr. Jekyll in this remake?" Me: "No, Mom, he's in GASLIGHT" Mom: "That's with Ingrid Bergman" Me: "Of course" Mom: "But Ingrid Bergman isn't in DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE, is she?" Me: "Yes she is." Mom: "The one with Fredric March?" Me: "NO! That was with Miriam Hopkins. You saw that one, don't you remember?" Mom: "You should know better than to ask me that." Me: "Ingrid Bergman is in the one with Spencer Tracy". Mom: "Spencer Tracy is Dr. Jekyll?" Me: "Yes" Mom: "I can't see him with Ingrid Bergman. Katherine Hepburn, yes." MissGoddess
lol! I'm not laughing at her confusion though, because Ingrid suffers almost identical terrors in both movies....in period costume.
Bronxgirl48
I can barely watch poor Ingrid go through what she does in those two parts.
redriver
"Agree about ISLE OF THE DEAD and Karloff! I as well think he's oddly attractive." What a coincidence. I have a thing for vorvolakas!
redriver
"ISLE OF THE DEAD. It's a bit talky but I've always liked it." The first half is talky and claustrophobic. Maybe even lacking the excitement of Lewton's best work. But boy, does it get better! The story escalates into some of the most harrowing, precisely timed suspense I've ever seen. Viewers discouraged by an uneventful first act will miss some masterful filmmaking.

Bronxgirl48
LOL!!! Their most terrifying encounter yet! Do you realize that Matthews could do the Who's On First? number all by himself?
Bronxgirl48
PHONE RINGS today. Mom: "I have ants in my bathroom". Me: "Are they those tiny black ones?" Mom: "Yes, little dots that move. They creep into everything. They may be coming from the wall, I don't know. I ate a ham and cheese sandwich so maybe I still had crumbs on my hands." Me: "They're coming to get you, Mom". Mom: "You watch too many horror movies".

JackFavell
I have a new pre-code love.... someone to rival your Ralph Bellamy/Bert Wheeler fixations. I am mad about Rudy Vallee. When he sings high notes he looks like a mangy dog howling at the moon. For some reason, I find it very attractive: We'll Be Together Again. All rumors of divorce seem to be in the offins as Rudy Vallee, and his wife, Fay Webb, met in this affectionate manner on her arrival in Cleveland, O. This was their first meeting since Mrs. Vallee dashed to Reno for a divorce. Rudy with glasses.... (sigh) Sorry for this strange interlude, folks. It will be over in a moment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=192RSrR1zCI

Bronxgirl48
November 12th: Me: "Mom, are you going to watch DIAL M FOR MURDER?" Mom: "Is that the one with Barbara Stanwyck?" Me: "No, that's SORRY, WRONG NUMBER". Mom: "Oh, that's right. Who was the husband, Ray Milland?" Me: (sighing) "No, Stanwyck's husband is Burt Lancaster. In DIAL M FOR MURDER, it's Ray Milland". Mom: "Oh! Speaking of Ray Milland, he looked TERRIBLE in that Lana Turner movie." Me: "I have to go now". Edited by: Bronxgirl48 on Nov 13, 2009 11:30 AM
