TerryE51
During "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" someone who looks very much like Danny Kaye was sitting behind Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra in the scene where their characters are on a train heading for spring training. The character in question is reading a newspaper but didn't act like your typical extra. Instead of just sitting there reading, he would occasionally look at Kelly and Sinatra as if he were listening in on their conversation. He also checked out the girls who walked past and even seemed to be stifling a laugh toward the end of the scene. There's no credit for either Danny Kaye or the character on IMDB or anywhere else. Danny Kaye was in Hollywood at the time in the early stages of his film career. He was already well-known as a stage and radio performer. Anybody have any information regarding this? Also, the film is still available on Watch TCM through September 7th if you'd like to check it out to opine on whether that's Danny Kaye. Thanks. David Guercio
I didn’t know he had a cameo in that. Who was he?
JohnA
Kaye's films of the period were released either by Samuel Goldwyn/RKO or Warner Bros., so it's unlikely he'd have a cameo in an MGM film. According to the imdb, he did make a cameo in a 1950 Warners movie titled Task Force with Gary Cooper and Jane Wyatt.
