MovieMadness
'Making the Taliban Great Again' billboards Billboards showing President Joe Biden "Making the Taliban Great Again" recently popped up in Pennsylvania and a former senator is staking claim for them. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Scott Wagner watched the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the chaos it wrought, he wondered, “What do you say to (those veterans)?” He said he wanted to do something to speak out. Those who are acquainted with Wagner, a one-term Republican state senator and unsuccessful gubernatorial candidate, know that he is not shy about expressing his views in a provocative manner. He met veterans who had sacrificed their bodies for the cause, wounded both physically and mentally, losing limbs and their psyches in the course of their service. So he took to the highways and byways of central Pennsylvania, renting out a dozen billboards at a cost of about $15,000. The billboards depict President Joe Biden dressed in Taliban garb and holding a rocket-propelled grenade, and they bear the phrase, “Making the Taliban Great Again!” The phrase, of course, apes former President Donald Trump’s campaign slogan and rallying cry for his supporters, “Make America Great Again!” ************************************************************* Thanks to Biden and his team we have the worst military disaster since Vietnam. This is also as bad as FDR giving half of Europe to the Soviet Union. 1

Arturo
Bogie posted this on Trump’s Biggest Whoppers, but it applies here as well: Well, there you go. Trump signed an order that would have stranded every American citizen in Afghanistan and would have surrendered ALL of the equipment there. No doubt his January 15th date was formulated to do the most damage to the Biden Presidency, American citizens be damned. Trump SECRETLY signed 'rogue' memo to withdraw all US troops from Afghanistan by January 15, 2021 and didn't tell his national security team - who rushed to get him to nullify it Former President Donald Trump signed a secret memo calling for the withdrawal of all US troops from Afghanistan by January 15, 2021, according to the new Bob Woodward book 1

If you had served in the military, you would know this and understand it. Besides, the US leaving Afghanistan is not a disaster. All the Americans who wanted to were evacuated. Others are in the process of being evacuated. Whatever disaster befell Afghanistan is the direct result of the Afghans themselves - their government, their military and their people. The only way Afghanistan can be considered as an American disaster is to blame it on George W. Bush for invading in the first place with NO exit plan. You really like being wrong don't you? Give it up. Any disaster or loss in Afghanistan are the result of George W. Bush and Donald J. Trump. As noted above Trump would have jerked all the US forces out in Jan. and totally abandoned any Americans and Afghan supporters there. 2

That was one part of WWII I just learned about. Neither Patton or Churchill trusted Stalin. At that point neither the people of the United States nor the military and elected leaders of the United States wanted to go to war with the Soviet Union or engage in any more wars in Europe. Patton never understood that, but Eisenhower and all the other US military leaders did. Patton was an excellent field commander - when somebody else told him where to go and what to do. 13 hours ago, MovieMadness said: You must be on crack, any sane person knows Vietnam was a military disaster, and since this is a movie message board, go watch Path To War (2002). I responded to your apparently equating the recent Afghanistan withdrawal actions and Vietnam as similar "military disasters." The problem is you are trying to equate Vietnam and the withdrawal from Afghanistan. You might consider the Beirut Bombing where 220 Marines died as a disaster far, far worse than the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Of course that was done by our first ultra-conservative GOPer president, Ronald Reagan. After that, he pulled all Marines out of Beirut and invaded Grenada as a cover. Vietnam was a "disaster" in that we never should have been there, we never should have supported the French re-occupation in 1945 and later supported the South Vietnamese government. It was not a military disaster in that the US and Allied forces did accomplish their military missions. Even TET was a US military victory. We did not accomplish the political mission of establishing a free, democratic country safe from North Vietnam and local revolutionaries. As I have posted many, many, many times before I believed before I went and after I came back that it was a mistake for US to be there in support of the South Vietnamese government. As Hamradio posted, it can be considered a foreign policy disaster. As can our role in Afghanistan. Biden may be a lame duck, but only if he chooses to be and Afghanistan will have no impact on that decision in 2023. Now, if your intention is to describe withdrawal from Afghanistan after 20 years of war and $3 Trillion and almost 2,500 US deaths, that is another topic. Beginning with Bush's invasion, Trump's opposition to the war and then entering into agreements with Taliban that excluded the Afghan government and military and tied Biden's hands. So, the disaster and "making Taliban great again" belongs to Trump, not Biden.
