jgren
I was a TCM subscriber via Google Fiber tv cable in Austin. Google recently mandated new hardware so that there is no traditional cable TV box. Now, they use a "Chromecast with Google TV" adapter and the consumer is responsible for subscribing to services on their own. I chose Youtube TV specifically because they include TCM. But now, sometimes see the message "This program's unavailable for streaming on the internet" when viewing TCM. Google says this is a TCM issue and not a Google issue. Can I fix this somehow by subscribing to TCM via some other service accessible via Google Fiber? Whatever this restriction is, it was not made clear to me when I signed up for YoutubeTV. The issue is that not all of TCM's broadcast rights include rights for streaming. For whatever reason, the rights to some of the films TCM shows are not cleared for streaming. Even though you are watching TCM "live" via YouTube TV, the law considers it to be streaming. TCM blocks these titles from YouTube TV, Hulu and other streaming cable replacement services, as well as blocking access on Watch TCM. The only solution is to subscribe to an old-school cable or satellite TV service.
oldorange1
If thats not enough suckiness… tcm schedule doesn’t even warn you when a movie will not be part of the stream. Meaning you miss out forever.* *assuming you have cable and tcm, and just weren’t home to watch one of those blocked from streaming. And have no dvr. Cuz there’s no watchtcm nor ondemand of it either.
