lzcutter
*Thank you for letting us know Zohra Lampert is still with us. Althought she is probably best known for ending up with Warren Beatty in Splendor in the Grass, she made me laugh and cry with so many other wonderful pieces of work.* Wouldbe, I remember her from her very memorable characters on *Kojak*. wouldbestar
My favorite of her TV roles was on a legal series, Sam Benedict, with Larry Blyden and star Edmond O'Brien. They played a civilly married and expectant Jewish couple, she very religious and he not at all or so he thinks. She wants a religious ceremony before the birth and gets Gentile lawyer Sam and a rabbi to plead her case. She gets it and a wild ride to the hospital to boot. It was both hilarious and touching and showed why she was such a fine actress. In one of Audie Murphy's Westerns, she is a bank clerk, kidnapped during a robbery, who is shunned by the townspeople for being "ruined" by the outlaws-as if it's all her fault-and wonders what man will have her. Guess who will if she wants him? It was only a movie but he made me cheer. I thought she was beautiful and real.

wouldbestar
No, it was only on one season during the early 60's. I think there were starting to be as many lawyer shows as there had been Westerns by then. This one had some interesting stories like a woman on trial for letting an innocent man be executed. A year or two later The Defenders took avant guarde legal tales ten steps forward. The laws moght be dated today but I'd bet you still couldn't stop watching even if the episodes had a very liberal slant.

midnight08
I didn't know that Henry Fonda and Margaret Sullavan were both born on May 16. That's quite a coincidence given that they were married at one time. It was the first marriage for both.

wouldbestar
I caught that too. And before her death, Peter Fonda was engaged to her daughter by Leland Hayward. Sadly, both women died by their own hands. Her other daughter-Mrs. Dennis Hopper #1-wrote a book, Haywired, about their lives.
