Wow, with that hair style and Hitchcock on the right my first impression was that the women was Grace Kelly.

I don't know if I agree with the comment 'he hoped to make her a star' because it was his unprofessional actions that hurt her career.

James, I know that Hitchcock made two movies with Miles, but am unfamiliar with anything that went on between them otherwise. Neither of these movies were amongst my favorites, so I have never read anything about them. What did Hitchcock do?

Hitchcock planned on having Miles star in Vertigo. Miles was under a personal contract with Hitchcock, so he must of felt highly of her.

Miles got pregnant and Hitchcock was unwilling to delay filming so he used Novak instead. Novak was working on another film so by the time she was available Miles was also. But he decided NOT to use Miles anyhow.

OK, I don't fault him for casting someone else, per se, but it appears Hitchcock never forgave Miles and limited her to TV work and a secondary female role in Psycho. Whatever Hitchcock saw in Miles to sign her to a contract didn't 'go away' because she had a child. So to me it looks like Hitchcock was out to limit her career after she had a child.

Vera Miles and Alfred Hitchcock: He hoped to make her a big star...but.

Didn't she manage to do that on her own? if not, I'd still take her career and, I'd imagine, so would a lot of other actresses who we never got to hear of.

That James Olsen photo looks like it came from *Rachel, Rachel.* Another underrated actor who should be better known and thanks to you is today a little more so.

Off the Boards from tomorrow to the 18th. From this month so far I'll have a lot to catch up on.

"The way you walk is thorny through no fault of your own.

For as the rain enters the soil and the river enters the sea,

so tears run to their predestined end. Your suffering is over.

Now find peace for eternity, my son."

Sorry Mongo, couldn't resist !

P.S Happy Birthday!
