Dothery
I always wondered what it was about Stan Laurel that got the women. He was married five times (twice to the same woman) and had a "partner" for some time as well. I thought he was pretty cute but not THAT cute. Dargo
Lots of money makes any guy handsome and "cute". It's a Law of the Jungle. Now rr. Ya know, SOME women will tell ya that what they find MOST attractive in a guy is what Jessica Rabbit once answered when asked what drew her to her husband Roger..."He makes me laugh!" Dothery
Now rr. Ya know, SOME women will tell ya that what they find MOST attractive in a guy is what Jessica Rabbit once answered when asked what drew her to her husband Roger..."He makes me laugh!" (...yeah...right...sure...huh) Personally (and I've lived a long, long life and have met a great number of men), the ones who could make me fall were the ones who could (1) talk well, and (2) make me laugh. Money never entered into it. Give me a guy with a vocabulary and a turn of phrase every time. Maybe Stan had that in private. My sense of humor is odd. I worked with a couple of guys in a solar energy company and one of the guys who owned it was my idea of a genuine wit. Once when they were just beginning they had a customer whose first name they never got. One day, looking through the file, the guy in question said, "Let's call her Fiona." That kind of thing has always blown me away. There were other bons mots he came up with but they wouldn't be appropriate, since they ragged on me a lot at that place. We all met for dinner some years ago and had such a hilarious time the other diners were asking what we were having. My bet would be that Stan Laurel could make 'em laugh.
Dothery
Another remarkable many-times-married actor was Edward Arnold. When I see him now I keep wondering what made him so attractive. He made me laugh, but he was a comedy actor and not a wit, in particular. There are pictures of him as a young man which are pretty good. I found one but can't post it, for some reason. At any rate he certainly was attractive when he was thinner.
