wouldbestar
How sad that everybody in today's lineup but Hal Holbrook is no longer with us? I just saw Wayne Morris on a Maverick episode from 1958 which he must have done just before he died. The hair's not gray and there's plenty of it but there's no doubt that it's our Mr. Holbrook. I remember his looking that way when he played the preacher's son on The Brighter Day. Just looking at Kathleen Freeman makes me smile. I'm assuming Mary Brian was from the silents or early talkies. fredbaetz
Wayne Morris was a true war hero. He flew "Hellcats" while serving aboard the USS Essex during WW 2 and he shot down 7 Japanese planes and assisted in sinking 5 enemy ships. He received four D.S.C.'s and two Air Medals. Sadly after the war his career never really took off again, but one of his most powerful role was in Stanley Kubrick's "Paths of Glory" as the cowardly officer. While visiting the air craft carrier "USS Bon Homme' Richard in San Francisco Bay in 1959 he suffered a massive heart attack and died. He was only 45..Like I said a true "Hero" Edited by: fredbaetz on Feb 17, 2011 5:21 PM
