*CANDIDS* 2

*"I am unable to post any photos in General Discussions so I am posting them here. Just need to post something or will go crazy!"* - gagman66

I think you really should create a personal thread as your own creative outlet and for which your are the sole "archivist". That is what "Candids" is for Mongo, "1939 - As It Happens" is for filmlover and the "Censored Poster Gallery" is for me.

I wouldn't add to Mongo's Gallery - but I've emailed him photos for him to add at his discretion. I felt that was the most courteous way to go about it. I understand the work and effort that goes into gathering all there rare images that he finds. He obviously has a vision that guides him in his postings.

And while a single addition of a photo by another member (often in response to an image posted by Mongo) may not be intrusive, multiple postings such as these tonight is a disruption.

You know how to start a thread so why not begin one dedicated to displaying your creativity? "Your Favorites" is a perfect place for it.

Good Lord. I did basically have my own thread remember? But unfortunately it is buried in the General Discussions forum as well. So I still can't post anything there. Never thought there was a problem with using this one as long as the theme was fairly consistent in nature? There was no intention on my part to Hi-Jack anything.

Many thanks to Lynn and Kyle in defense of the CANDIDS thread.

I appreciate it very much.

Jeffrey, I appreciate your contribution of images to the thread (although I'm not into many silent films). The Chaplin image with Marion Davies and Gloria Swanson is ideal.

I'm in agreement with Lynn and Kyle's suggestion in starting your own thread again. Since you have so many images to share it should be a

treat for all of us. I would like to see those images from the 1930's, '40s and '50s that you have. Thank you.

Star, Virginia retired from show business in 1945. In 1947, just six days after turning 21, she married naval officer Lionel Krisel. They had two sons, Ronnie and Gary. After settling into private life, Weidler refused to be interviewed for the remainder of her life. She remained married to Krisel until her untimely death on July 1, 1968 when she suffered a heart attack in Los Angeles at the age of 41.

Mongo,

It was nice to see Shemp Howard included here on March 17 for his birthday. Since you are the expert birthday researcher you may have noticed that there are discrepancies in the listings of Shemp's date of birth. Most people seem to think it was March 17 while others say March 4. But just recently new evidence has been found to confirm the real date...and guess what? It's not the 4th nor the 17th! Shemp's granddaughter Jill located his long-unseen birth certificate which states that he was born on March 11, 1895.

Mongo: Thank you for the info. It seems she had more happiness in her short life than many others with longer ones so in my book she wins.

After seeing the photo of Karen Steele, which I take it is au natural, I want to know whose stupid idea it was to dunk her in the bleach bottle? That white blonde never looked real or all that flattering to me and she is absolutely beautiful in this shot. I know back in the 50's this cotton candy color was considered sexy but it made so many women just look phony and cheap. It seems to be making a comeback along with the blood red lips and it still rarely looks good.
