Hitchcock's Blackmail

Recommended Posts

I would like someday to see the silent version of BLACKMAIL. I do hope that the restored veriosn of it would make it to DVD soon. THE RING and THE MANXMAN have been released as part of a Hitchcock boxed set a couple of years ago by Lionsgate films. The prints looked excellent

I got my version of Blackmail from Germany, on PAL disc. Excellent resolution rate and sound.

I think the silent is actually better than the talkie, all except for one crucial scene: the "knife!" scene in the kitchen with the nosy neighbor. That one just didn't have the same impact without sound.

I have almost all of the surviving Hitchcock Silents.Except for THE LODGER, I have never really watched them. I have had the Silent version of BLACKMAIL for at least a year. I will look it up. I seem to recall the print looking very good.
