MovieMadness
Democrat Phil Murphy narrowly wins re-election as New Jersey governor Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy survived a closer-than-expected race to win a second term in New Jersey, NBC News projected Wednesday, offering more proof that Republicans are gaining ground in blue states as the 2022 midterm elections approach. Murphy fended off a challenge from GOP nominee Jack Ciattarelli, a businessman and former state legislator who campaigned on lowering property taxes and relaxing Covid-19 restrictions. He is the state’s first Democratic governor to be re-elected in more than 40 years. The thin margin — combined with Republican Glenn Youngkin’s victory in the Virginia governor’s race — indicates trouble for President Joe Biden and Democrats nationally, members of both parties said Wednesday. Biden and congressional Democrats have struggled to pass a legislative agenda. And the results in New Jersey and Virginia suggest that voters aren’t moved by broad-brush efforts to link all Republicans to former President Donald Trump. “I was surprised, but not shocked,” former Sen. Robert Torricelli, D-N.J., told NBC News. “The Democratic Party in New Jersey, like the national party, has strayed at some distance from its base. These are the kinds of corrections that take place when a party strays from its base.” ********************************************** This is another election where we go to bed with the Republican leading and then wake up to Democrats adding votes throughout the next day and eventually winning. Trump's election, Georgia, California, and now New Jersey. This democrat that "won" reminds me of Mr. Burns.
Arturo
It’s called math. You don’t seem to get it, and it ain’t over till it’s over (ALL votes counted)!

Vautrin
It's easily explained for anyone with even half a brain. The blue Dem counties of NJ are more populous and take longer to count and thus come in later than other locations. 2

The last Dem governor to be reelected before Murphy was Brendan Byrne. I see a pattern here. ☘️
MovieMadness
Uh no, there are Republican districts just as large that got all the votes counted quickly, and didn't put it off until the next day to see how many votes were needed to win. It has become a pattern now and Democrats are adding votes again.

Any election they win they are all smiles and there is never a question of vote rigging in their minds. 1
Vautrin
Most of the counties in NJ with a large population lean Democratic, so they take longer to count and come in later. Look out Jack, here comes Newark. Easy to comprehend unless one is a right-wing sore loser.
