I never even liked them as a kid. Now, all that said, one of my sons did have a "stuffie" which he carried around with him for a while as a little kid, and which I did actually like. But that was a Bugs Bunny "stuffie", not a cutesy teddy bear. I know exactly what you mean about what has sometimes been called "grief porn" re: the profusion of flowers, stuffed animals and the like being placed at public sites and private mourning places. Not sure but I think it started with the death of Princess Diana. I am put off by it all myself. But I do love teddy bears on their own. They have to be more the vintage kind, or at the least not overly precious because I don't care for that either. Just simple, sweet and cuddly. I think I've mentioned on this board that I've had impure thoughts about Bugs Bunny.

I’m a fan of that movie and would love to hear what Eddie had to say about it. Unfortunately, I missed it (obviously). Thanks! This won't mean much to any American posters here but any Canadian ones (particularly those from Ontario) may be interested to know that Elwy Yost, who hosted Saturday Night at the Movies for 25 years on TV Ontario, had a "thing" for Deanna Durbin. I can't quite remember now how he worded it but when I met him once during the '80s he made reference to Durbin in Lady on a Train, saying that she grew into a very lovely lady. He almost seemed to purr as he said it. It was Elwy's own reserved, gentlemanly way of saying he thought she was pretty hot stuff. 2

I'm with you on Blast of Silence. Would I love to see more films like it? No. But it does have its own special weirdness. Yes, a steady diet of indie, low-budget, shot on location noir films, like steady diets of many things, would wear one out eventually. We'd start to see the similarities we see in many other types of films, but this one is pretty entertaining and has its own charm.

I used to watch "The Bugs Bunny/ Roadrunner Hour" every Saturday afternoon. And when I say "crush", I don't mean anything weird, no fantasies of an actual date with Bugs or anything like that. I just thought he was very cool. So funny and quick ( like a bunny!) But looking back, I don't know which was odder, having a crush ( even an innocent one) on another species, or an a cartoon character. also... yes, that's exactly a good term for that other thing, about people who don't even know the person who died throwing flowers and teddy bears and other stuff on the grave site or accident site or whatever, "grief porn". I never understood it.

Didn't Elwy show a double feature once featuring two, count 'em, two, Deanna Durbin "noirs": Lady on a Train and also, a "type" departure for both her and her co-star Gene Kelly, Christmas Holiday ? I can't recall if Elwy had that Durbin double bill, MissW, l but I'm almost positive he did show Lady on a Train. Those comments that he made about the actress's attractiveness were made to me and a friend in his office at TV Ontario.

Although it was a long time ago, I'm fairly sure that Elwy did feature those two Deanna Durbin films one time on Saturday Night at the Movies. The reason I think this is, I believe I videotaped that show. I think I might still have the video kicking around somewhere. "Christmas Holiday" was on it too. I wish I could find that videotape, because "Christmas Holiday" in particular is extremely rare. However, now that I consider, it's likely the videotape would be so old and brittle it wouldn't play anyway. ( That's what happened when I found a video of "The Unsuspected": it wouldn't play.) I've had to replace a number that wouldn't play a few years after I got them.

Did Bugs have a girlfriend in his cartoons, like Mickey did Minnie? I was always jealous but never understood why. To this day, I still don't. Adding to the mystery is that I've written on these boards that two human actors always remind me of Bugs, in terms of looks -- Lloyd Nolan and Zachary Scott, but I've never been romantically drawn to either of them.... Go figure! 1

Dargo
And to answer the earlier question posed about if Bugs Bunny had any girlfriends...yes and no. He's had three, but none were ever featured in any of the classic W-B shorts and only in BB's printed comic books and for promotional material during the 1950s and 1960s. The first was named Lula Belle Bunny and then later came Honey Bunny. The third one, Lola Bunny, was/is an animated character which was created much later for the 1996 film Space Jam. (...at least that's all the info I was able to find about this...Doc) 1

She was definitely in favour of inter-species relations though I don't think Bugs felt quite the same way about it. Somehow that blonde wig has me thinking of Stanwyck in Double Indemnity. 1
