MrMagoo
I heard the other day that the Academy sells the rights to the Oscars for $100 million/year. It is their single largest source of revenue. They used to get 30-50 million viewers. Now they struggle to get 10. ABC has to sell a lot of advertising to get back that $100 million. Advertisers hardly want to pay up for only 10 million viewers. No pay per view or cable broadcaster would touch this gig for $100 million. The Academy (and they won't) needs to put their foot down and get the presenters and nominees to cut out the wokiness and moralistic preening and get back to being ENTERTAINERS!!!!! People will watch if it's funny, entertaining and heartfelt.
DVDPhreak
Many people are cutting cable and going to online streaming on platforms that aren't measured by the Nielsen ratings. So all these news headlines of big ratings drop for whatever TV networks need to be taken with a grain of salt.
