Could Donald Trump get a fair trial?

By Steve Huntley

Aug. 11, 2022

Could former President Donald Trump get a fair trial if criminal charges were filed against him?

That question is less and less a theoretical or speculative one, especially now that the FBI has raided Trump’s Florida home, the first-in-history federal police agency search of a former president’s residence.

This FBI raid was said to be focused on whether Trump had classified files from his days at the White House that he should have turned over to the National Archives. But most speculation about potential criminal proceedings against him has centered on his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol....

I'd be surprised if Trump is indicted for taking and mishandling classified documents.  That is another reason why it is absurd for anyone to risk 20 years in prison for 'planting evidence' on Trump when they ought to know that he will probably never be charged anyway.

I would think this archive thing won't be at the heart of any possible criminal charge against Trump.  But interesting question regarding an impartial jury.  That will be tough both on the defence AND on the prosecution.

ABSOLUTELY!  As much as anyone else in America.  Don't forget there are multiple investigations into Trump at state and federal levels.

You see that Dershowitz was shown to not know what he was talking about - again.

He said that the FBI could have just used a subpoena instead of raiding Trump.  As is turned out, they tried that avenue a while back but Trump had not been co-operating.

Of course, Trump could clear all this up by releasing the Search Warrant and maybe even holding a Press Conference but that might cut into hs raking in millions of dollars off of his supporters based on alleged grievances by the FBI.

It would depend on the verdict.  If  the verdict  is  not guilty, it was  a fair  trial. If the verdict  is guilty it  was  an unfair witch hunt

controlled  by the Biden family,  fake  news, and radical leftists.

I like your reply here,  but since Trump really can't get a fair trial,   why even have one;  just find the nearest tree and be done with it!

He'd be found not guilty in Russia, North Korea, and maybe a couple other places.

And if  by  chance Mike Pence is in the vicinity why not have a double  hanging?  Put them under opposite trees so  they have to  see each

other and then slap the horses' rears.
