Germany laughed at Trump and this happened

In this video President Trump told Europe not to become reliant on Russia for energy, and they can be seen laughing about it. Now a few years later they are not laughing as they will all be very cold this winter without enough energy.

Russia Will Not Restart Gas Flow to Germany

Gazprom postponed restarting the flow of natural gas through a closely watched pipeline that connects Russia and Germany, an unexpected delay that appeared to be part of a larger struggle between Moscow and the West over energy and the war in Ukraine.

European officials said Russia was cutting back its gas deliveries to punish Europe for its opposition to the war in Ukraine. Many have accused the Russian president, Vladimir V. Putin, of seeking to rattle energy markets with threats of ever-diminishing gas supplies.

Is Germany still laughing?

While I haven't heard her say it,   the biggest mistake of Angela Merkel long and very solid career as leader of Germany,  has to be trusting Putin and depending way too much on Russia energy.

It all started with Gerhardt Schroeder who Putin rewarded with shares in a giant gas company.  Follow the money..  Russia is nothing more than a mafia operation.

So, you are advocating that Germany and other European countries abandon Ukraine since there is little to no alternative to obtaining gas from Russia at this time.  Nor could the countries have likely prepared themselves by this time either.  Other sources of energy would still be in the construction phase if even at that phase.  Same with importing gas.

So, you must believe that they should abandon Ukraine.

It's very sad that by the Millennium the world hasn't learned civility of give & take, everyone-gets-along mentality. Instead it seems safer to protect yourself by becoming self sufficient/self contained countries. The writing has been on the wall about global warming, pollution, etc and if we were smart about it we would have changed our wasteful habits 50 years ago.

Instead, I still see people sitting in a parked running car for 60+minutes.

Last month Germany signed a deal to obtain gas from Canada.

Below link says it may not happen.  At any rate it will still take some time for them to get facilities and so forth available.

"Environmental and regulatory hurdles to gas pipeline construction are a stumbling block to new LNG terminals on Canada's Atlantic coast, and support for the idea in Ottawa has been cooling. As recently as May, Canada said it was in talks with two companies to possibly accelerate LNG projects there that ship could gas to Europe within a few years."

Baby steps. I'm not against helping the environment but we're not there yet to go green. We need better technology.
