TCM Original on Black and White Cinematography

Recommended Posts

A few days ago I had the pleasure of viewing an excellent TCM original profiling Black and White Cinematography.  It featured John Alton, James Wong Howe, Gregg Toland and other greats who filmed in black and white. Thanks to Eddie Muller, I have gained a real appreciation for the genius of John Alton.  This program was outstanding and another reason why TCM is always on in our house.

However, I noticed an error in the program.  After showing Gregg Toland's artistry in Citizen Kane, the feature next showed clips of The Magnificent Ambersons to further describe Toland's work.   Gregg Toland was not the cinematographer on the Ambersons;  it was Stanley Cortez.  I remember hearing Orson Welles complain that Cortez was too slow in shooting the film.

Is there a way for this error to be corrected?
