FrankInFL
I recall seeing a movie in the late-40s or early-50s in which a man (travels back in time -- or is it a dream?), meets and falls in love with a woman. In the last scene, he has returned to the present (or awakened) and rushes into the 'family plot' to find her gravestone. Something says "Hanover Square", but I can't find anything under that name. Help.
fredbaetz
Well, first there is "Hangover Square" with Laird Cregar, George Sanders and Linda Darnell. That's about a musician who blacks out and kills people and doesn't remember. Then there's "Hanover Street" with Harrison Ford and Lesley-Anne Down. That's a love triangle set in WW2. Then there's "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymore. That's about a young man who travels back in time and falls in love with an actress and after they fall in love he finds a penny in his pocket with the date from which he traveled from and wakes up back in his own time. There may be others out there with a similar plots
musicalnovelty
FrankIn FL: That sounds like "Berkeley Square" (1933) and its remake "I'll Never Forget You" (1951) (British title: "The House in the Square"). Info here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0023794/combined and here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043668/combined
FrankInFL
It has to be INFY because of the date (1951) That would have made me 7 or 8 when I saw it. It doesn't sound like something an 8-yr-old would be interested in, and I'm wondering now how I even came to be in the theater for it. Must have been "Here's a dollar; take your brother to the movies." Thanx for the info.
