Oh, I hope you are right, Azure.

It would make sense that I could Not come up with it if you were right and I was wrong.

I am convinced that this is a movie I haven't seen.

The last clue was the most illuminating clue besides the genre.

Please read the clues to the film. Clash By Night has nothing to do with the plot clues. The film is not Illegal. I've already said there was a wall safe, a woman gives another woman 2 quarters, a man watches a newsreel, a woman draws a house plan., Obviously the film has to do with a home robbery. It has been shown on TCM. and it's been shown on other stations. A necklace is stolen and there's a carnival scene and a crooked cop. Those are the last clues, If these aren't "illuminating" it's because you haven't seen the film, if you had you would have immediately recognized it.

GPF -- Lavender did mention that my answer was not correct.

Lavender -- Illegal was the closest film I could find to match your clues.  However, I was only able to verify that it matched three of the clues, not all of them.  Obviously, we're all stumped by this one.  It has been unsolved for over a week.  Please give us the answer.

I missed that post, sorry.  I did not know Illegal was incorrect.

As for this thread and the other one, I really did not know there was a time limit and was I suggesting that there be one. I do not need to be the clue giver in any describe the scene game unless I have it correct.

I generally try to answer threads I can most of the time.

It is only when TCM is full of spam that I insist on trying to answer questions I don't know.

It is likely my frustration of spamming - IT IS - that creates any unfortunate word choice like illuminating.

And regarding my COWBOY question, well, I okay I see how I should have not posted many clues the same day.

Cheers, all.

But my clue was long, and I thought that letting people know

Thanks Azure, glad you recognized that by me giving a lot more clues to try to help you, the correct film was not given. I appreciate your guesses and no problem, the correct answer is The Burglar. It stars Dan Duryea and you were correct with the sex symbol guess of Jayne Mansfield and the noir actress was Martha Vickers who played Bacall's sister in The Big Sleep. It's an excellent noir, Eddie Mueller made a point of discussing this film in length in one of his TCM intros and outros.

Since you did guess Jayne, it's your thread AZURE and thanks again for trying and your always respectful, patient participation on the bds. it's much appreciated :)

I've put The Burglar on my to-see list.

I am always looking for new film noir titles and  I re-watch my favourites.

Since Azure left this thread open, here is another film noir scene:

A man falls in love with a woman in a picture on the wall.  It is a painting.

Hint -- The man asks to see the woman's husband.  She tells him that her husband isn't at home.  She later tells him that she and her husband had been separated for 3 years and that she hasn't seen him in about a year. However, the man knows perfectly well that she has seen her husband recently.
