Poinciana has not returned. Thinking I was right, and with it looking like the thread is abandoned, I will proceed:

_New York City setting:_ A young grad student goes to the apartment of his maternal grandparents on the evening of Passover. His parents arrived ahead of him. The evening and the celebration go well. As the guests are leaving, the young man tells them that this is the last time he can do this. He adds that the decline of the neighborhood makes him fearful of coming here anymore. With this one remark, the student accomplishes what his parents have been trying to bring about for years. Its a certainty now, that the old folks will be re-located, and in a better neighborhood, before the next Passoveer.

The student's _paternal_ grandfather is a career thief, paroled from prison at the time of the movie's beginning. His father runs a successful meat-packing business. But, way back there, he pulled a couple of scores himself, bringing in the money to go into business. The student himself is a brain in his own right, in line for a prestigious Westinghouse grant for further study. And he has this yen to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.
