lavenderblue19
Yes of course, Cary to Myrna in *The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer* . I've always loved this film, and always laugh. You know the reason I picked that scene is because not only did they both look so beautiful, it was so sweet and romantic. When we think of the film, I think most usually think of the scenes, with You remind Me Of A Man, or the relay races or the comedic scenes that were so funny in the restaurant. But that scene of Cary and Myrna dancing and Cary telling Myrna his feelings, I always thought was beautiful. Glad you found that scene worthy of remembering. Your thread, Dothery. Dothery
I love that scene because they already have their private jokes ... she telling him that's a beautiful suit, and he looks wonderful in it ... and the look he gives her. But principally I love it because I think it's one of the greatest comedy scenes ever filmed, and the timing is what makes it so. I've watched it a hundred times and still can't stop laughing at it. Rudy Vallee and the exchange with the guy at the next table is hilarious. But Veda Ann Borg and the remark to Myrna Loy, "I hate my sister," and the band striking up Happy Birthday To You makes me shriek. Anyway: Since it's my turn, and I missed my turn in another thread because I didn't remember I had answered something right, here's my contrbution: This scene has a beautiful young woman asking what's happened to her lover, and is told that he's dead. However, in a matter of moments she finds out he's only dead in one sense. Then she's happy because there he is again.
Dothery
Hint #1: The girl and her eventual lover see a lot of scenery together, but it's pretty barren.

Dothery
Hint #7: Well, by George. Here I was thinking nobody is ever going to see a reference to this movie, and last night there was Cyd Charisse dancing the scenes in a show within a movie. Got it yet? Jose Ferrer was there, too ...
lavenderblue19
I thought it was *Maytime* ? , I was so busy with the puzzle, didn't post. I fell asleep with the tv on last night, and woke for a few minutes and saw *Deep In My Heart* was on, that's the clue ?
Dothery
Yes, that's the clue ... like you, I picked up the movie well into it, and there was Cyd Charisse, in the most gorgeous white dress, dancing around an Arabian Nights set with a handsome guy. I met Helen Rose once and bought her book. She said of all the women she dressed in her years at MGM, Cyd was the one with the perfect body. Nothing had to be fixed or adjusted for her. It was all her and it was all beautiful. Anyway, that was the clue. It was one of Sigmund Romberg's shows before it was a movie. I'm sure it's obvious now ... Dothery
That's the one! Gordon MacRae and Kathryn Grayson; Raymond Massey as the sheik, with his fancy robes; at the end of the movie someone says, after the hero has given up his role as El Kobar, the Riffs chieftain, "El Kobar is dead." She thinks it's true and grieves for him, but then he comes sneaking around a hedge and starts singing at her, and she knows only the phantom El Kobar is dead, and not his alter ego. I love that movie. I have it on tape and every so often I have to run it and see those beautiful people and those beautiful dresses and listen to those beautiful voices. Your go! Amaze us! Puzzle us, put us in a quandary!

lavenderblue19
Sorry,6 not Calamity. But excellent guess. Calamity doesn't slap her, she does shoot a glass out of her hand and threaten her though.. Watching the most fantastic fireworks right now from my bedroom window, and running back and forth to my balcony, where they are also on display. My condo overlooks a lake, and fireworks are just beautiful over the water. HAPPY JULY 4th. Hope you're having a Wonderful Holiday. Another scene A man is jealous of another man and he kills him, or so he thinks he kills him. Dothery
Aha! Or should I say "Ole!"? Is that Montalvan, the matador, slashing his father's portrait in his mother's house, in "Pandora and the Flying Dutchman?" And if it is, check out my Pandora message in General Discussions ... I just read about him the other day. And if it's not him, read it anyway. It's interesting, I think.
lavenderblue19
Ole! and Bravo! You wrote I should amaze, puzzle and put you in a quandry! It is Montalvo and it is *Pandora and the Flying Dutchman* - Remember how Ava was slapped in the restaurant by Janet because of Stephan. I posted this question 4 days ago, where have you been? Yes, I read your post this morning, so I knew you'd get around to answering this one. I LOVE this film. Beautifully filmed, so romantic. Just a wonderful film. Bravo! Ms. Dothery, and now back to you
Dothery
Cabre was apparently typecast. They all felt he was conceited, arrogant, sure of his own popularity, just like Montalvo. (I got the name wrong first time but you knew who I meant.) I was impressed with the little rascal, to tell you the truth. Now: We have an oddly placed daffodil.
