molo14
I used to go clubbing. I hung around a lot of wild people but I was always the calm level-headed one. Honestly that's true! Of course now I'm a nervous wreck and they are all making a ton of money! The ones that are left anyway.

FrankGrimes
Howdy Frank! How do, Grahame's Guy. It's nice to see you haunting again. Do you think That Girl is basically a spin-off of Breakfast at Tiffany's? I don't know about that. I think it (the series) played to a certain mood at the time that might have been partly based on BAT, but Ann Marie was very different form Holly. It's been a while since I've seen the movie. My favorite part is her doing that soft rendition of Moon River in that melencholy kind of way. Wasn't Holly more lost than Ann? Marlo was very focused. Yeah, I'd say the tone of the two is very different. But I believe Holly and Ann were both looking to make it big, it's just their definition of making it big was different. Two different female mindsets. I'm going to try and watch another Ford film tonight. Huh? What's been happening while I was away? Did the Fordies have a breakthrough or did you have a breakdown?? Ford films make me appreciate all other films more.
JackFavell
I'm glad you were level headed enough to stick around.... :x Money's good, but you have something better. A sweet personality. I like that you have a mysterious past... I went to some raves in my time.... It was lots of fun, but I just drank water so I could dance all night. I was never into anything heavy duty.... watching someone shake and sweat because they are on hardcore drugs is enough to keep you from doing anything stupid. FrankGrimes
Good evening, Frenchy -- If it's any consolation I also listened to The Cocteau Twins... Never heard of 'em! I like 80s bubblegum pop! You DO have a black streak. I thought it was yellow. Now I have to watch in a timely fashion. Yes, you better. Seen Mr. Lucky or Starman yet? I can watch Mr. Lucky, but you'll probably turn your back on me like you did with Summer Storm! I was just about ready to give you a good going over! And you know I'd never leave someone standing at the discussion altar. Starman is P&S on DVD. Blech. I'll have to see if it's on "On Demand." I've actually always wanted to see Seven Women , but I also have some mixed feelings because of Ford's ill health when he made it. You will be extremely proud of Ford. It's one heckuva final curtain. The only problem I had with it was some of the acting. I'm actually proud of you for watching so many movies lately. Don't let it get around.... I've been watching! I just haven't been talking. Interestingly, the last two films I have watched have mentioned "Babylon." That's Miss G's residence!
molo14
Thanks Jackie. *I like that you have a mysterious past...* *I went to some raves in my time.... It was lots of fun, but I just drank water so I could dance all night. I was never into anything heavy duty.... watching someone shake and sweat because they are on hardcore drugs is enough to keep you from doing anything stupid.* I never did the raves they were a little after my time I think. I used to drink but I never liked to lose control so I was always careful. Well most of the time. We used to go to a lot of "hole in the wall" clubs, one of them was actually called the Hole in the Wall. I has some friends that were in local bands. We only had a few clubs here in Richmond. The big thing was to go to DC, or the beach, or NYC. but now...well see my response to April.
molo14
Hi April, *I absolutely adored this show as a kid. And I wanted a big sister like "Katie" so much, or to grow up to look like her. I liked Beverly Garland when she came on, too. I don't think I've seen it since I was little. I wonder what I would think of it now.* The black and white episodes are the best I think. A lot of people have never even seen those. The three sons appear less and less in the last two seasons. Katie was a dream girl. Very sweet and beautiful. Meredith MacRae was on the show in the early years. She married Mike (Tim Considine) the oldest son. Little Ernie cracked me up. He was a funny kid. Actually Chip was really funny when he was the youngest. Now that I'm at the end of the series I've seen him grow from an eight year old to a college kid married to Polly. Remember her? This is how bad I'm getting. I watch TCM all the time. I only usually watch old tv shows on DVD. If I watch new tv at all, it's usually a documentary about something old. Now I've turned off the radio in the car and I'm listening to recordings of old radio shows from the thirties and forties that I got off archive.org when I drive. If I didn't have to look where I'm going I might forget what year I'm living in! No matter how bad the day has been, if I can just settle down at night with an old movie or tv show for a few hours and then go to bed, I'm happy. Pardon the interruption - Hi Molo: I have become more like you. Most new TV doesn't interest me. The comedies aren't funny. Some of the dramas are pretty smart but more and more I watch old TV on DVDs. Old westerns, action shows and comedies. I love nature documentaries. I think they are the most informative. If David Attenborough is doing them - so much the better. I like history as well. Mostly it is stuff I don't figure I'll have no other way to see it. Classic films help us...they're like warm cocoa (or a good stiff drink). It most times does the trick. I'll never forget feeling totally down in the dumps (yeah, unrequited love...ha!) And AMC (in the old days before commercials) had "THE GANG'S ALL HERE." The technicolor, the tutti fruitti, and Alice Faye totally pulled me out of the doldrums. I love classic films. But I'm not alone, am I.
molo14
Hey there Chris. *I have become more like you. Most new TV doesn't interest me. The comedies aren't funny. Some of the dramas are pretty smart but more and more I watch old TV on DVDs.* Yes I don't like the new comedies at all. They go for the cheap stuff usually. Some of the dramas can be good but I haven't gotten hooked into any of them. Basically I've just gotten out of the habit. *Old westerns, action shows and comedies.* My brother is really into the old western series. I borrow from him a lot. I have a lot of the old comedies. I also like some of the action shows. I like The Rockford Files a lot. One thing is that there is so much available now, though not enough, so we have the option of revisting the older shows and not putting up with the commercials, and constant scrolling promos that are on television these days. I have friends that don't watch newer shows until they come out on DVD because they don't like to fool with all the clutter of commercial tv. *I love nature documentaries. I think they are the most informative. If David Attenborough is doing them - so much the better. I like history as well. Mostly it is stuff I don't figure I'll have no other way to see it.* I really like history documentaries. Civil War stuff, Ancient history, Biblical stuff. I also like medieval history or stuff in that vein. (see the bbc thread). I also like stuff on astronomy. Some of the nature documentaries are fascinating as well. It depends on the subject though. I'm really into insect behavior or reptiles. Lately I've caught a documentary about the history of Appalachia and one on the Windsors, stuff like that on PBS. Programs like the Appalachia doc, I probably wouldn't have sought out, but once I started watching it, I found it really interesting.
molo14
Hi CineMaven! *I guess that's why most of us are here, you Madhatted Molo-man. And AMC (in the old days before commercials) had "THE GANG'S ALL HERE." The technicolor, the tutti fruitti, and Alice Faye totally pulled me out of the doldrums.* I agree. They do help us get through stuff. If you're feeling stressed, hurting, feeling lost, the films are there. They don't waver on us. I can turn to Bob and Bing, Bracken and Hutton, Fred and Ginger, Carmen and Alice, Lombard, Dunne, Grant, Benny, Powell and Loy and on and on and on. They are like old friends. Maybe Eve Arden or Jack Carson or whoever, will show up in a film. I'm glad to see them. Then I can get into an adventure or a a bit of trouble, with Grahame, Gable, Mitchum, Russell, Davis, Ladd and Lake, Bogart and Bacall or countless others. Or ride into the sunset with John Wayne. We are lucky that they do whatever it is they do for us. Some people don't get it, and don't have the outlet. *I love classic films. But I'm not alone, am I.* I'm glad we all found each other here! That one doesn't count. that one doesn't count? but it's Celine! it has to count! you're such a meanie! I thought you liked George Peppard in Breakfast at Tiffany's. did i say that? i didn't mean it! honest! i like Paul Varjack, not George Peppard...major difference there! That's impossible! Just ask Miss Snippy. She knows I'm always right. oh and that earlier post from her didn't give you a clue? heehee! See! Evil! where's the evil? im......defending myself against the monster. yeah that's it. Oh, no, you're not! You're sneaky! oh im sneaky?! Greer would never accuse me of such things. FrankGrimes
then why do i always have information to the contrary?!!! Misinformation, that's why! that one doesn't count? but it's Celine! it has to count! you're such a meanie! The motorcycle distracts me from her awful singing! did i say that? i didn't mean it! honest! i like Paul Varjack, not George Peppard...major difference there! That figures. And I'm sure you'd dump Cat in the rain just like the rest of these horrible girls. Heartless! oh and that earlier post from her didn't give you a clue? heehee! It did! She wrote: "Oh, what a sweetheart you are!" See! oh im sneaky?! Greer would never accuse me of such things. That's because she's too busy drowning one man's heart and crushing another man's skull! butterscotchgreer
Misinformation, that's why! I never have the wrong information! why are you always right, but i'm always wrong? maybe it's just me. will someone kindly help me out pretty please? The motorcycle distracts me from her awful singing! That sounds like something Sarah would say! Don't do that! Poor Celine! but you see, the motorcycle doesn't sing, she does! so what are you watching when the motorcycle isn't on screen in the video? That figures. And I'm sure you'd dump Cat in the rain just like the rest of these horrible girls. Heartless! I've never had a cat! and who are you referring to as horrible girls? who is heartless? Who stole who's strawberry shortcake? who picks on Greer and Mikhail Baryshnikov? who calls who mean names? It did! She wrote: "Oh, what a sweetheart you are!" See! I don't believe I saw April dahlink write that anywhere. That's because she's too busy drowning one man's heart and crushing another man's skull! That's not fair! you took two screen caps from two completely different movies! You're not getting the stories right, frankie! First of all, Smithy fainted, b/c he need Paula to take care of him.....second of all She is holding the gun to protect herself from the German pilot in her kitchen!!! remember?! he's the bad guy who threatened her!......and thirdly, you don't even have a screen cap from Valley of Decision, which is the movie you eloquently keep referring to when you INSIST on her drowning a man's heart in the ocean....which she NEVER does! golly gee, you just love to twist the best movies around, don't you? At least Greer has a king heart unlike someone around here! heehee!
