FrankGrimes
Good to know, I have been doing it the old way in all the other forums, including this one. This way is easier! I was doing just as you until about a month ago. We're slow to the trigger, ain't we? It sure does make posting pics a heckuva lot easier and quicker. OllieTSB
"Theresa"? "Poisonous"? Boy, I'd certainly understand that. But these dangerous-looking confections below... oh my... Roha earns "most poisonous" for the moment! (Oh yeah, I forget - we've got TWO of those T-Machines roaming around. I gotta write Resa and see how she's enjoying West-Of-Town life these days. Send her directions to The Slab off of 1431, too.)
rohanaka
HA.. technophobia is such a debilitating disease.. I had to come back in and edit my last post because I spelled it wrong!! (ha) And what do I find when I get here????????? Roha earns "most poisonous" for the moment! Ollie... don't give the Grey Dude ANY ideas.. ha. He already slams my cooking for that all the time as it is!! Ha. (but from you I will take it as a complement.. I THINK!) PS: Mr Movieman.. enjoy the goodies!! (You'll notice I baked a few extra treats and put them in a travel container for you to share w/ the fam (especially when you are all together at __________ ;-) (or you don't have to share.. you can keep them all to yourself if you want!! Maybe that will make it more fun for you!! ha.) Either way.. enjoy them, youngun!! And I hope we can all get together and blab over the Duke and Ms Bacall soon!! I will look forward to it! JackFavell
glub glub it's hard to talk with chocolate and caramel in your mouth...... thanks Ro Ro! Maven - your PM mailbox is full. I fixed the big OOPS in the Musings thread. That GD forum ticks me off! I always forget to add the !!! Thanks for replying in the John Gilbert thread. I didn't expect you over there, so it was nice that you jumped in and added a little humor to the place! John Gilbert would have loved your wit. I really like the guy, the true definition of a star, including a spectacular burnout at the end.... I can't help it, I'm a sucker for a doomed guy with a pencil thin moustache. rohanaka
Glad to hear you folks are enjoying your goodies. And PS: Mr. Movieman.. yes .. 'youngun' ha. You might be just ahead of me in terms of age, but years have NOTHING to do w/ it.ha. Because if the saying is true that you're only as old as you feel.. well.. that make me about a GAZILLION years old, ha. (what is it Indiana Jones said?? "It's not the years, it's the mileage" Ha. I think my factory warranty is expired!!) ha. Well... I am just popping in here to say THANKS again to my secretaries for keeping me on task and helping me to remember my movie.. I really enjoyed it a lot. (And to be honest.. I don't know WHICH I enjoyed more.. watching the film.. or just goofing around on here w/ you folks TALKING about how excited I was that it was coming on, ha) Which brings me to my next point.. I actually was a bit (sheepishly) worried that I MIGHT have been remembering this film too fondly.. ha. It HAD been a long time since I saw it last and I thought.. oh great.. what if I go through all this build up and I watch it this time and I end up feeling just "ho hum" ha.. But NO!! I did enjoy it a lot. And I FREELY admit it is more or less just a "fun" film.. there are not really going to be a whole lot of 'deep" thoughts that one has to think in order to appreciate this movie.. ha. But that is OK. While I DO like to ponder my characters sometimes and get inside their heads and try and find out what it is that makes them tick.. sometimes I just like to sit back and enjoy a fun story.. and this is what Blood Alley was for me. The TCM movie schedule had this film listed as an "adventure" movie.. and that is likely a good way to describe it. It is not ALL one kind of movie or another though.. it is a nice mix. It has some humor.. some romance.. some action.. some supsense.... and some drama. All mixed together. No great "themes" to ponder.. but overall it was just a fun and entertaining way to pass the time. And the Duke was in rare form with this story. Playful and gruff, rough and rugged, yet (at times) very compassionate too. I loved watching him talk to "Baby" and the way he used her to both hang on to his sanity and also talk out all his problems and ideas. And I liked his gradual "warm up" to the people of the village and their plans to the point where he began to work to care for and save not just himself but them as well. I can't say this was a stand out role for him.. or for Ms Bacall for that matter. (likely less for her than him, to be honest) but as I mentioned before, it was a nice way to pass the time and I am truly happy to have gotten a chance to FINALLY see this film again after so many years. (and PS.. wow.. that Paul Fix was almost UNrecognizable as Mr. Tso.. I TOTALLY did not remember him even being in this movie at all.. but I thought he did a really good job. and that was some pretty good make up on him too) Thanks again, to my secretarial staff.. and to everyone else too for putting up w/ me.. I will settle down now and stop being so DOOFY over this movie.. ha.. at least for a LITTLE while, anyway.. Now to start my "whining' campaign to the TCM programmer gurus for Wake of the Red Witch.. ha. (gee... I wonder if I can bribe them w/ some of the left over candy and goodies from my secretary payroll. HA!!)

fredbaetz
Great photos of the wonderful Will Rogers. I have all his films he did with John Ford on the Ford at Fox series and they are great. This past year on e-movie posters.com they had for auction a photo of John Ford and the cast from "Stagecoach" looking at a sculpture of a cowboy sitting on a horse. The cowboy's hat was pushed back and he looked for the world to me like Will Rogers. It looked liked it stood about a foot or a foot and a half. With the films they did together and the strong friendship between them, it seemed like a photo the studio would take of Ford and the cast with the statue. The info had no idea on the statue. I lost the bidding on it, but maybe someone out there knows something about the picture....
