lococardinal
These are a series of movies I had never heard of untill shown on TCM. Unfortunately I only caught one of the films that were shown on the particular evening they were broadcasted. I thought they were hilarious (why don't you keep your business out of my nose). I think Robert mentioned that the MS actress was married to Gary Cooper at one time if I'm not mistaken. Anyone know of how many of these comedies were made? bansi4
The actress who played was Lupe Velez (she appeared in 8 films as the hot tamale). She had a hot and heavy romance with Gary Cooper. She was married to movie Tarzan Johnny Weissmuller. Mongo
evh55
If you want to see Lupe and Gary together you should see Wolf Song. There is a great scene where Gary is swimming and comes out of the water nude. Wow! These two really generated some heat!
TheTexasKid
Lupe "The Mexican Spitfire" Velez also made a series of seven mostly well-received films with Leon Errol. That film series is probably where she got her nickname, The Mexican Spitfire. Unfortunately, I never have seen any of them. I did have the good fortune to see her with Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel in "Hollywood Party" in ther famous, or maybe I should say infamous, egg smashing routine, which often shows up, when one is looking for the best of Laurel and Hardy. "Hollywood Party" is an interesting, but rather strange film. Walt Disney contributed an animated short subject to the film. And Disney himself puts in an apperance, as the voice of Mickey Mouse, who appears in the film. That is when he was still being voiced by Disney. Also appearing in the film are Jimmy Durante, Jack "The Baron Munchausen" Pearl, the Three Stooges (Larry Fine, Moe Howard, Curly Howard) that is when they were still working with Ted Healy, who also puts in an appearance, Arthur Treacher as Durante's butler, and Robert Young , who makes an uncredited appearance in the film.
