Need Help as March of Time Documentaries preps for 75th Anniversary

2010 marks the 75th anniversary of The March of Time documentaries/newsreels. We have just launched a facebook page dedicated fans and experts of this long-running series. The fansite goes deeper than just posting the monthly documentaries. It will have rarely seen marketing materials, theatrical lobby cards/posters, magazine articles and original scripts. Additionally, March of Time historian, Professor Raymond Fielding has written an overview specific for the fansite.

We need help finding and re-uniting surviving March of Time veterans to share their stories on the fan site. We are interested in any MOT stories you might have. We need ongoing help tracking down missing and ?lost? March of Time programs. The fansite will be both the 75th Anniversary kickoff spot as well as a preservation base.

Right now the immediate goal is to establish a March of Time community and finding MOT pioneers or family members and get them involved. In the purest sense, this is a site for fans, students and experts of The March of TIme and the newsreel era. We want stories shared on the fansite. This is about spreading the word and re-introducing the March of Time to a new generation along with the original generation. Let us know if there is anything specific or general about the March of Time you would like to see. We will do our best to dig it up to share with you and others.

Special screenings and panels are being finalized, creating a neat opportunity for a new generation to experience the most acclaimed American newsreel series. All 75th anniversary events will be announced first on the fan site. The fan site will also accept ideas for other 75th anniversary tributes.

Help us, become a fan and contribute at http://www.facebook.com/marchoftime
