HollywoodGolightly
A Slight Case of Murder is probably one of the best, most delightful gangster parodies ever, with a great, memorable performance by Edward G. Robinson as Remy Marco, a former bootlegger trying to go legit after the end of Prohibition. (It would probably help a lot if he knew a thing about quality brewing). The movie is based on a play co-written by Damon Runyon, and in my book, you can't go wrong with Runyon, see? Without going too much into the plot, let's just say that the movie is consistently entertaining from beginning to end, with great comic relief from Allen Jenkins, Edward Brophy, Harold Huber and even Margaret Hamilton (!). Great fun, and the DVD is packed with lots of good extras, including the featurette "Prohibition Opens the Floodgates".
markbeckuaf
Great flick and one of Eddie G's best gangster spoofs! Thanks for the review! It's truly hilarious and there is a scene with Eddie G and Edward Brophy that totally cracks me up every time! I wish they had teamed up more frequently (as in another fantastic and funny gangster spoof, LARCENY, INC) Fun stuff!
mrroberts
One of the things that really endears me to Edward G. was his willingness to spoof his image, a night of Eddie G gangster comedies would be great.

I agree, that would totally rock!
HollywoodGolightly
I would love to see that, as well! I don't think that Cagney, Raft or Muni (as much as I admire them) ever made self-parodies as skillfully as EGR did. I never cease to be amazed by his versatility.

DownGoesFrazier
Good Robinson gangster spoof, but IMHO, not as funny as LARCENY, INC.
