speedracer5
What about all the other folks? E.g. her fellow students? Did they all have vision problems? I'm thinking that the boys' libidos clouded their judgement. All they see is a girl who is more developed than the others, plus, she's new. She's fresh meat. She's not onto their "invasion of the Sudan" story which is really just a ruse to make a move on the girl.
TopBilled
I found a very good British drama from 1953 on YouTube. It's called TURN THE KEY SOFTLY. Joan Collins has one of the lead roles. She's an ex-prostitute who's been released after serving a year in jail. The story follows her and two other women who were also incarcerated as they try to assimilate back into London society. Great stuff. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turn_the_Key_Softly

TopBilled
CONSOLATION MARRIAGE (1931) on YouTube. I can't believe I've never seen this before. What a keeper! Irene Dunne & Pat O'Brien are perfect together.
TopBilled
Pollyana with Hayley Mills, Jane Wyman, Adolph Menjou, Karl Malden, Kevin Corcoran, Agnes Moorhead, and Donald Crisp. Such a great film. Too bad TCM didn't include it in next month's offerings for Jane Wyman's 100th birthday tribute.
NickAndNora34
Pollyana with Hayley Mills, Jane Wyman, Adolph Menjou, Karl Malden, Kevin Corcoran, Agnes Moorhead, and Donald Crisp. What a great Disney film. This is one of the very first movies I remember watching. I must have been about 4 years old.
SansFin
Mission: Impossible (1966-1973) This is available for viewing in: CBS AllAccess. The episodes are free and have no commercials but there is: $6.35 per month subscription fee for CBS AllAccess. I have watched most episodes now but must watch some once more because I obviously missed significant portions. I must admit that I am a little surprised Americans of the era so openly applauded a government agency which stole from American citizens, used questionable drugs on innocent people and violated international laws and treaties with no hesitation. I find interesting the progression and slight changes of focus during changes of Peter Graves as leader and Leonard Nimoy as master-of-disguise. It was sad to see Barbara Bain replaced by roster of second-list actresses. I find the series to be very quaint in many ways and an insight into period furniture and fashion. shutoo
Because Netflix is pulling the series, I decided to watch some of the early episodes of Murder, She Wrote. I guess I missed quite a few..in just the first season, there are four nieces .. I only remembered the nephew, and I thought the early shows would be in Cabot Cove..nope. Columbo is also vanishing from Netflix ...idiots.
TopBilled
I've been looking at season 2 of That Girl on Amazon Prime. Can't believe I'm watching this silly show. Some of the stories are pretty bad, but others are significantly better. I did enjoy the two episodes with special guest star Ethel Merman. film lover 293
Been watching Debbie Reynolds--couldn't get through "The Singing Nun" (1966). Credits sequence was promising, but film quickly got diabetes inducing sweet--super sweet. Lousy camerawork also--I gave up 30 minutes into the film. speedracer5
I just got a new copy of Summer Stock (my old one was a flood victim) and I'm checking it out to make sure the quality is good. It's at the god awful "Heavenly Music" number. I love every other part of this movie. I love Gene Kelly (not in this number, but in everything else) But this is probably the absolute worst musical number in the history of the world. I hate this musical number with every fiber of my being. Judy Garland apparently was supposed to appear in this number too but called in sick. I don't blame her. This number is horrible and obnoxious. The only part I like are the strings that they pull to make their pants fall down and the dogs. What makes it even more obnoxious is that it precedes the fabulous "Get Happy" number which is one of the best musical numbers in all of film.
TopBilled
THE LONG RIDERS was recently added on Amazon Prime. I had never seen it before and started watching it last night. I'm looking at the second half of it now. How come this great film is seldom discussed? I can't believe I had never heard of it before.
TopBilled
I'm watching the Mildred Pierce miniseries produced by HBO. It's on Amazon Prime and I hadn't seen it before. Kate Winslet plays Mildred in this version, and she does a fine job. She earned an Emmy for her performance.
