speedracer5
To really experience this movie to the fullest, have your tuna popovers ready and have one when they do. Lol. I will have to figure out how to make a tuna popover! I always laugh when they poo poo Charles Coburn's expensive wine, even going so far as mixing it with soda and even then deciding it's bad and they dump it on the ground. I also always feel bad for Spring Byington at Coney Island. She brings the gang pretzels and here comes Robert Cummings who dives into the group (more toward girlfriend Jean Arthur) and then rolls all over the pretzels. shutoo
After wrestling all afternoon to set up kodi on a laptop, I thought I had ended up with a thousand things I didn't want to see..but..voila..a place to type in just about anything and see a bunch of places to find it..Yay! I'm watching the first episodes of Monk..and I love Monk...????
TopBilled
Because it was the one Fonda/Stanwyck film I hadn't seen, I just watched You Belong To Me...I wish I hadn't. Fonda is like a petulant child in his jealousy of his Dr. wife, turning to stalking and physically attacking her male patients. A rambly script not saved by good supporting performances, it's a sad way for the pairing of two talented actors to end..unlike their other comedies, this one does not stand the test of time. Columbia remade it nine years later as EMERGENCY WEDDING with Larry Parks and Barbara Hale taking over. It's not much better.
speedracer5
Using a combination of You Tube (for the old promos) and Hulu, I am trying to pretend like I'm watching Nick at Nite circa 1995ish. Right now, I'm watching "I Love Lucy." The episode is "Million Dollar Idea" where Lucy and Ethel think that they can make a million dollars selling Lucy's homemade salad dressing. My favorite part, Lucy as the disgusted hillbilly tasting the bad dressing: CANCEL! CANCEL! .... AND DO IT NOW!

NickAndNora34
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961): starring Walter Pidgeon, Joan Fontaine, Peter Lorre, Frankie Avalon, etc. I have had this film on my watchlist on Netflix for a little while now, and finally had some free time to start watching it. (Boy, when Disney says they're going to make you work hard, they're not joking!)
speedracer5
Right now, I'm watching Citizen Kane live on TCM. I love this movie. It's so interesting and with each subsequent viewing, I notice something new or consider an aspect of it that I never thought of before. Like when Kane is signing the contract, why is he fully ensconced in shadow, while everyone else is in bright lighting?

LiamCasey
Forbidden Planet (1956) - TCM I've long lost track of how many times I've seen this one. Star Trek before there was Star Trek. Considering Hollywood's usual tendency, I'm amazed that it has yet to be remade.
LiamCasey
Foreign Correspondent (1940) - TCM I've also long lost track of how many times I've seen this one. But the first time was during an introduction to film history class which was taught by a professor who was focused on Alfred Hitchcock that semester. If only all classes were that enjoyable!

I know this is a service for visually impaired, but ..it shouldn't be turned on by a network, but on individual receivers..right?

speedracer5
Right now I'm watching a TCM recording of Made For Each Other. I apparently recorded it during a tribute to William Cameron Menzies. It was nice seeing Robert Osborne again.
speedracer5
I'm watching The Woman in White, a 1948 movie with Eleanor Parker, Alexis Smith, Sydney Greenstreet and Gig Young. It's interesting so far. Though how Gig Young managed to get into so many films is beyond me, he's so boring! He says his lines and they just lie there. No pizzazz, no personality. speedracer5
I'm watching a show I recorded a couple weeks ago off Get-TV. I recorded the 1969 variety show television special, Dick Van Dyke and the Other Woman w/ Mary Tyler Moore. This special is excellent. I didn't realize that Mary Tyler Moore was such a good singer. It's quite a different role than Laura Petrie and Mary Richards. This is what TV is missing these days--variety shows. Variety shows not full of a bunch of wannabes that is. The 1960s-1970s shows had such a wonderful aesthetic and style. It is a bit corny and the set decor is basic, but I love it. I hope Get TV brings back more of these specials--especially the Mitzi Gaynor ones.

LiamCasey
The Winds of War: The Winds Rise (1983) - DVD My favorite miniseries. I first read Herman Wouk's novel in high school and have reread it a number of times since then. And I watched the miniseries when it originally aired and have probably rewatched it every other year since I picked up the DVDs.

speedracer5
The fracas in the "movies to recommend to a newcomer" thread regarding Singin' in the Rain inspired me to watch the offending film. I'm watching Singin' in the Rain. I defy anyone to watch this film and not be cheered up by it. Musical or not, it is entertaining from beginning to end.
