Hugh Hefner already owns the plot next to Marilyn. Hef purchased the plot in 1992 for an estimated $75,000; this has been the average going price for any plot in the building. This story has already been spread all over the TCM message forums since late last year: The plot above Marilyn that originally was intended for Joe DiMaggio was later sold to a man who was a die-hard fan of the blonde movie goddess. The widow of the deceased man decided on having his body removed from the plot. The reason was said to be a need to payoff debts. However, this situation created a bit of much controversy, leading to accusations of plain greed.

It?s no wonder the whole ordeal of the bidding was so bogus and turned into a fiasco of embarrassing portions. As of now, the auction is a bust or that anyone who bid, ever really intended on paying out the final amount. It?s easy to surmise that the auction had no real chance of ever being legit, by way of the widow utilizing eBay, instead of a bona fide, reliable auction house. It has all turned into a foolish venture by the widow. The plot can and will eventually be sold, as the staff at eBay tries to settle the matter to find out who qualifies to make the purchase. But, for eBay it?s mostly been more like damage control over this incident.

The winning bid was placed by an anonymous Japanese man for $4.6 million, but the winning bidder later backed out "because of the paying problem"
