Missing Footage from "Midway"

As a huge fan of the movie "Midway", I find it very frustrating that roughly 15 minutes of battle scenes from the Coral Sea are always eliminated from TCM's version as well as the DVD version that I purchased. Since the action at the Coral Sea is significant as it is mentioned several times later in the movie, I find it puzzling that it is consistently edited. TBS aired the full version in the late 70's or early 80's, so I know that it exists. Is there any way that TCM could air the full version?

This may be a situation similar to the one described in the "missing scenes" thread that's right below this one as I write. Stronger content in movies was often taken out for network-television or local-station broadcasts, and additional scenes were inserted to restore the running time to its original length--or at least to the length needed to fill the time slot, commercials and all.

I believe the Midway DVD's extra features have these scenes:

You're probably remembering these from a TV broadcast with commercials, as they weren't in the original theatrical version, which is surely what TCM is showing.
