Guest
I'm restarting this thread here, as I think it will less intrusive in the Your Favorites folder to those who don't care about it. It's also my pleasure to start off this thread with mentioning tomorrow's showing of... The Strange Woman, 17 Sept, 6:15 pm EST. ...which hasn't been on TCM recently. This movie was co-produced by Hedy.
path40a
So what can you tell us about it, antar? Have you seen it? How would you rate it? Is Hedy especially alluring in this one? It would be helpful (to me only?) if in addition to alerting us to these films if you could provide any input you have since we know you ARE the Hedy expert around here;- ) Thanks! bunderw170
Hello Hedy Expert, I think she was just beautiful. I taped H.M. Pulham Esq. the other week, only to have it cut off before the movie ended. I'd love to know the ending (bundie@bellsouth.net, if you don't want to spoil it for others). I was actually looking for Ava Gardner, who had a bit part. Can you tell me where Ava was?
Guest
Thanks for asking, Path! Yes, I have seen it (I have it on VHS--I'll buy the DVD soon). Hedy made it when she started freelancing, gettin' away from MGM. It's obvious it was produced on a slightly tight budget, but they did good with what they had. Yes, Hedy was definitely alluring in this one. ;-) She plays sort of a manipulative 'semi-evil seductress' in it. Kewl! It's not my favorite Hedy flick, but it's up there. An interesting watch... Guest
I had a topic in General Discussions, "Hedy Lamarr on TCM!!!!!!," but I wanted to move it to this forum, so I called it "Hedy Lamarr on TCM II [#2]." It's not another channel. After I'd posted this, I got to thinkin' that the title might be a little confusing...sorry 'bout that.

memlps
and I'm the idiot that asked Anter what TCM11 was. For one shining Moment I thought TCM spun off another channel. I still think it could happen.

melmac4ou
Why is it whenever I see Hedy Lamarr's name or whenever I hear I want to say "Hedley!"
brackenhe
melmac--you've seen Blazing Saddles one too many times . I especially love the scene where the outlaws have to take the pledge to Hedley and all the cowboys say Hedy Lamarr and Harvey Korman (Hedley) says "That's Hedley" which is running joke throughout the movie. leopoldsplumtree
There was that Lord Leopold Plumtree guy in Another Fine Mess and I just liked that name. "leopoldplumtree" was already taken so I added the possessive to leopold. Should I go back to Antar?
bansi4
No, don't change it. It's kind of neat and besides it seems to suit your humorous personality. Go for it! Mongo

moviejoe79
Antar - "Another Fine Mess" is my all time favorite Laurel and Hardy movie, and I never would've guessed that old "Plumtree" was you - I didn't even know that you were a fan of that movie. Very clever. I love it when Stan comes out dressed as the butler but still has the maid's wig on. And Hardy keeps messing up the guys name calling him Crabtree - "That's PLUMTREE, here's my card" - great stuff.
