shutoo
This is a fun bit of trivia about a well known character actor: He had many (over 200) credits for silents, shorts, and a lot of westerns through the early 30's. After he was asked to be a pallbearer for Irving Thalberg, he began getting more diverse roles in 'bigger' pictures, and worked his entire life. The irony is...he didn't even know Irving Thalberg. A secretary in Thalberg's office mistakenly invited Carey, the actor, when they were supposed to contact Carey Wilson, a writer and close friend of Thalberg. Carey told people it was a long while until he learned why he had been included at all, but he began getting scripts from a whole new group of people. Your thread, lavenderblue19!
