allaboutlana
{font:Calibri}Thanks. Name the Hitchcock film title that, intentionally or not, contains the locale of the film (where most of the action takes place, though it does start somewhere else) within a word of the title, and is not a separate word, as in example, They Met in Bombay.{font}

allaboutlana
No, the word I'm looking for is a name found on the globe of a certain country, city, etc. whose letters in the name are found in the title of a Hitchcock film. {font:Calibri}For example Boston is found in The Bostonians. (Actually it part of the *city's* name, but it is usually known by this word.){font} Edited by: allaboutlana on Oct 5, 2011 2:46 PM
lavenderblue19
The only title I can think of offhand would be *Under Capricorn* with Capri ? as a location. It's one of the few I haven't seen, BUT I thought it takes place in Australia.
allaboutlana
I wouldn't have posted this, but it intrigued me. It's not that one, but that's a good guess. The Hitchcock film I'm talking about stars one of the people in Under Capricorn. (Anotehr hint: this is not a city in the U.S.A.) lavenderblue19
Thanks, lana. That was an aha! There is a very tragic true story associated with a 1950's film. Unfortuanately, it involves the 5 leads and the director of the film. Who were the actors, who was the director and name the film ???

Susan Hayward, John Wayne, Agnes Moorehead, Pedro Armandez, John Hoyt and Director Dick Powell all were exposed to radioactive fall-out while on location in Utah shooting the film. A very tragic fact, all passed away of cancer(Pedro Armandez committed suicide it's said because he was terminal). Thank You for the extensive information and the website reference for more info. mudskipper
Thanks, Lavender....It would be interesting to see if they had a spike in the number of cancer cases in St. George, Utah compared to the rest of the nation in the years following the atomic tests. cujas
This is the kind of solid Golden Era Character Actor who falls through the cracks for even film buffs. He appeared in a number of classics, but probably never had a breakthrough role--although in all his performances he appears professional and commanding, whether a nobleman, a crook or a pompous businessman. He's tough to pigeon-hole but let's try: *Supported Stanwyck and Chatterton in Pre-Code Classics *Was often seen in Jeannette MacDonald MGM Musicals *Called-in repeatedly for iconic comedy teams in the movies--2 tops *Worked in 2 Capra-corn classics Good Luck!
