He buys a little house, works in the shipyards and the couple help the daughter with her physical therapy. Years pass she is a teenager and able to walk with a cane. ( no cracks about LA and SF bridge. please) the daughter was in an boarding school in SF when they are on the road. That's when she gets a disease that was a big scare in the 50's. The valet in the movie is famous for supporting the top movie stars--but he doesn't usually play servants.
