Goodbye Charlie?

Yes, Goodbye Charlie. For the longest time it wasn't shown but lately it's been showing up on tv. Love the theme song, I've hummed it to myself many times over the years. It's silly but a cute film, Tony Curtis, Debbie Reynolds, Walter Matthau. Good job Star, your thread :)

When she arrives at her uncle's house, her uncle is not at home and she is made to feel like an outsider by his wife, who spends most of her time studying astrology, his son, who is extremely lazy, and his very stuck-up daughter, who loves to order people around.  She does, however, win over the servants.

Upon awaking and learning that a young man she has set her cap for has called twice and said to meet him and a group of their friends at the club to go riding at 2:30 sharp and knowing that she can't possibly make it in time, the daughter sends her cousin (the orphan) on ahead to detain him in some way.

She eventually gets the young man's attention and, in one last attempt to detain him, pretends to faint.  At this point her cousin arrives.  She pretends not to know the girl and tells the young man to get some water.  Once he's gone, she tells the girl that she can leave now.

The young man's family is having a ball and, when told that she can go because everyone is invited, the girl is beside herself with excitement.  She shows the servants her graduation dress in the hope that one of them can help make it over for her.  When she leaves the room, the servants decide to ditch her dress and pitch in to buy her a new one.
