mudskipper
Two of the Magnificent Seven actors starred in another western with a theme music that was as good or better than the Magnificent Seven theme...Name the movie and the actors...
Edythevanhopper
Hmmm. This is tough. I was struck at how many of the Magnificent Seven players were in The Great Escape together. That theme is one of my favorites..it's not a western. I've found Eli Wallach in westerns with good theme songs, Charles Bronson in Once upon a Time in the West...can't find any two together. How about a hint for old Edythe??
mudskipper
Hint:...The movie was set in Mexico...
Edythevanhopper
Muy no intelligente!! This sure is tougher than it seems. I found Yul Brynner and Brad Dexter in Invitation to A Gunfighter 1964?... I can't find any soundtrack info though.
mudskipper
Giveaway hint:....It's not as hard as you think. The theme music was written by a famous Oscar-winning French composer who has written a number of very popular musical scores.

flashback42
Thanks. Next: Convicted outlaw serves his sentence, goes home to join his wife, and the son he has not seen since the lad was an infant. Western. Color.
flashback42
(44,573) The film presents as a biopic, but it is much more Hollywood than History. The central figure did finish out a 25-year sentence, and he published an autobiography telling his side of things, couched in the language of his better-educated wife. But the actual facts indicate that this is a very bad man's self-whitewash.

flashback42
Arriving at his wife's home, the ex-con learns that his son, now an adult, has bought in to his reputation, which the father himself regrets. The young man is practicing fast draw, twirling a pistol, etc. The father loses his temper and strikes his son.
flashback42
Fed by material in the self-serving "autobiography", this script portrays the outlaw's criminal career as a series of winning high-stakes poker games with sore losers, and a string of false charges from corrupt lawmen. Among other things it alleges that a famous and respected lawman once sidestepped a showdown with him by letting him leave town.
