Three Favorite Horror Actors?

Recommended Posts

I won't challenge those greats, but I'll nominate Albert Dekker, of *Dr. Cyclops*, *She Devil*, and others, for an honorable mention. He was pretty sinister!

Agree, Albert Dekker was a distinguished actor. I recently read a book on actors' passings,

and was quite taken aback to find out that he died as a result of a gruesome murder, which still

remains unsolved.

It was suicide. You must be confusing him with Ramon Novarro.

According to the book The Hollywood Book of Death - Albert Dekker was found dead by

his girlfriend, Geraldine Saunders. After unsuccessfully trying to reach him, she went to his

apartment, where she found his mutilated body in the bathtub. Camera equipment and several thousand dollars in cash were missing. The case has long been closed, but it remains a mystery.

I thought, too, that Dekker died by self-inflicted means. (Not suicide, but accidentally strangled himself.

Just checked IMDb & that's what is stated there...

Bela Lugosi, Bela Lugosi, AND OF COURSE Bela Lugosi.

Next three:

Lionel Atwill, George Zucco, and John Caradine.

I'm going to have to go with the original three, the ones that I grew up watching and have come to admire adamantly over the years...

BELA LUGOSI

Boris Karloff

Lon Chaney Jr.

Cushing, Lee, Price, Rathbone, Lorre, etc. were all great in their own ways, but they flourished outside of the genre much more than "The Big Three." Still, I enjoy watching all of them.

And of course, Chaney Sr. may have been the first horror icon (and arguably the best), but he belongs in a class all his own.

Vincent Price

Boris Karloff

Christopher lee

but its really hard to choose, peter cushing and several others would have been good choices.
