tcmviewer
Hi, I love watching all the old Warners mystery series that air on TCM (Falcon, Saint, Perry Mason, Hildegard Withers, etc.) and I was curious if TCM has ever given consideration to licensing the Lone Wolf (Warren William starred in many of these) and Boston **** series? Since they're Columbia product they've gotten lost over the years since Columbia doesn't have a dedicated channel the way Warners does. Also, hopefully Warners will someday give consideration to releasing these great old mystery series on DVD using a similar model that Universal has with their "legacy" collections. Thanks, Steve (my first post on the forum after lurking for a long time; thanks to TCM for the great programming and for providing these forums)
chrtbsh
it's possible - we're trying to talk to Sony about some of their films they might be making more use of their library now that they've done this deal with MGM/UA and Comcast I agree that there are a lot of films in that library that should be seen
flickerknickers
Dear TCMProgrammer: if more Columbia movies may be in the future, could you also please, double-please, consider showcasing some of the Republic gems from the late 30s and 40s? These would hopefully consist of those fabulous serials--like "Adventures of Captain Marvel," "Daredevils of the Red Circle"--but also all those musicals, the Judy Canova musical comedies, the Jukebox Top Ten quickies that would show us a vanished era when movie houses were desperate for anything to fill up the hours for their packed World War II theaters. Republic's cowboy stars were the absolute best. IF you should do this favor for us Republic fans, we'll throw you millions of hugs, kisses and big, big smiles of delight! tcmviewer
Hi, I thought I'd bump this old thread up to see if there were any new developments in TCM's discussions with Sony/Columbia about licensing some of their library, particularly the mystery series (Crime Doctor, Boston ****, etc.) that are awaiting rediscovery. Thanks!
constarkel
TCM programmer has been able to secure for us lucky viewers, the pan & scan version of Benji (which is a Columbia Picture I believe).
