path40a
I seem to be one of the only ones able to login this AM? The July, 2005 schedule is up: http://turnerclassicmovies.com/Schedule/Print/0,,07-2005|0|,00.html and it includes Roman Holiday & Sabrina (two of my favorite Audrey Hepburn films - looks like she might be July's SOTM), The French Connection (three times), Million Dollar Baby (er, the comedy with Ronald Reagan from 1941), A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935) - thanks!, many of the Laurel & Hardy films (with the sound fixed?) from this month again, and several other films I've seen recently requested on these boards (which proves tcmprogrammer & staff DO read them). One curious addition, even though I consider it somewhat of a modern classic - Back to the Future (1985)!
hlywdkjk
I think that the powers that be are paying attention to what is posted here is evident on the 28th of July. On a different forum, a poster (tomagain77) wrote how his eight year old daughter told her bewildered 2nd grade class Joe E Brown was a favorite movie star. Lo and behold - 11 Joe E Brown films in one day on the new schedule. TCM has just made an young girl (and her father) very happy, I'm sure. Good Job TCMprogrammer. Hope your not inundated with requests on behalf of pleading urchins now. kyle in hollywood.
path40a
TCM has posted their September schedule already at: http://turnerclassicmovies.com/Schedule/Print/0,,09-2005|0|,00.html Highlights would include: The Long Voyage Home (1940), The Informer (1935), The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1927), The Lost World (1925), Sunset Boulevard (1950), Metropolis (1927), Alfie (1966), Black Narcissus (1947), The Red Shoes (1948), & Counsellor at Law (1933) - for those that missed it earlier this year ... and I've been waiting to see The Informer for a long time - yeah! and what looks like a brand new Greta Garbo documentary! It looks like she's September's SOTM, since it would be her 100th birthday, and Tuesday's are filled with her films! Thanks tcmprogrammer & staff!!! brackenhe
Yeah--Greta Garbo is Sept SOTM. Yeah Yeah Yeah!!! And path--I too have always wanted to see The Informer & Black Narcissus. I've heard that movie is quite interesting. Looking forward to Sept. But there's not many months I don't look forward to. Except 31 days of Oscar. I don't watch much during that month. path40a
Helen, I've been requesting The Informer (1935) via Suggest a Movie for a long time now, so I'm glad it's finally made the schedule. Regarding Black Narcissus (1947), I only really got interested in seeing it after I heard Robert Osborne & tcmprogrammer discussing it during "My Day at TCM". I couldn't wait for it to be "programmed", so I got it via Netflix a couple of months ago. Your remark "there's not many months I don't look forward to" could have been my own;- )

path40a
The October schedule has been posted: http://turnerclassicmovies.com/Schedule/Print/0,,10-2005|0|,00.html including several rarely (or never?) shown films like Cleopatra (1963), The Country Girl (1954), & The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) - which I've wanted to see since it was featured in the all new "Watch the Skies" documentary. Plenty of horror films throughout the month of Halloween, though clearly the main theme is Alfred Hitchcock thrillers. In addition to the usual compliment of the great director's films, TCM will air: Jamaica Inn (1939), Blackmail (1929), Murder! (1930), Number Seventeen (1932), & The Lodger (1926). Plus, two 2005 Private Screenings: Lauren Bacall & Sidney Lumet and they'll even be showing some newer films like Dances With Wolves (1990) & Wolf (1994) ... something for everyone. Thanks! path40a
The January, 2006 schedule ... has been posted AND IT'S TERRIFIC: http://turnerclassicmovies.com/Schedule/Print/0,,01-2006|0|,00.html It's clear that Robert Montgomery is the Star of the Month (Monday nights), and TCM will be airing virtually everything of his except Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941). Thursday nights will be Anime, with such selections as Spirited Away (2002) & My Neighbor Totoro (1993) (which I highly recommend). There's also a Vincent Price tribute. Proving that tcmprogrammer & staff DO LISTEN to us (e.g. read these boards), the Andy Hardy films have been rescheduled (they'd been preempted by the Robert Wise tribute) and there are a lot more silent films beiing shown than usual (e.g. more than just one on Sunday nights) including The Scarlett Letter (1926) & the four hour Greed (1924). Plus, A Foreign Affair (1948), The Hurricane (1937), & Brief Encounter (1945), which had been discussed and requested here recently. Some old favorites sprinkled in with some rarely shown films include: Sahara (1943), A Place in the Sun (1951), Annie Oakley (1935), Carmen Jones (1954), The Big Heat (1953), The African Queen (1951), Born Yesterday (1950), Gilda (1946), The Harder They Fall (1956), Force of Evil (1948), & Dodsworth (1936). Some newer films also: Paper Moon (1973), The Bad News Bears (1976), The Karate Kid (1984), The Boys From Brazil (1978), The China Syndrome (1979), & Absence of Malice (1981). Thank you TCM for listening to us and programming another great month for us next January. A great start for 2006!!! path40a
I just received my Now Playing guide for next month and I hadn't realized (from scanning the on-line guide posted months ago) how many TCM premieres will air in December. Looks like almost 2 dozen (not counting the Cartoon alleys;-) Way to go!!!
path40a
The rest of March's schedule is up: http://www.turnerclassicmovies.com/Schedule/Print/0,,03-2006|0|N,00.html and it includes Desert Nights (1929) & a couple of John Gilbert talkies, as well as a couple of others I've seen requested on these boards: Footlight Parade (1933), Winchester '73 (1950), One Hundred Men and a Girl (1937), & Charly (1968); plus The Red Lily (1924) with Ramon Novarro & Wallace Beery, a bunch of Charley Chase silent shorts, lots of pre-codes in the AM, and many more whose titles are unfamiliar to me. Looks like Jeanette MacDonald and/or Nelson Eddy is/are the S(s)OTM; her/their films are airing every Monday in primetime. sandykaypax
Wow! 100 MEN AND A GIRL! A Deanna Durbin flick on TCM! That doesn't happen too often, as she wasn't an MGM star. I'm looking forward to seeing that one. Sandy K
panellacj
Another great film that's appearing for the first time on the schedule (I think) is ENCHANTMENT, starring David Niven and Teresa Wright. A romantic, heart-tugging gem set during WWII. I highly recommend this film for anyone who has never seen it before. I can't ever remember when it was shown on TV. SamTherapy
So much for fretting over whether or not TCM is going to pot, and not being true to Classic Film purists (such as my self). B-) Never doubted TCM for a minute, personally. Ya gotta keep the faith, baby! ;-) Hope this will put others' fears to rest for them. :-)
