From Broadway to Hollywood

From the 40's through the 60's this actress appeared on Broadway while maintaining a Hollywood, and later, TV career. Her plays were usually from Shakespeare.

Although she never won an Oscar, she was nominated and also co-starred in a movie that won Best Picture.

Hint: She was hot and heavy for James Garner in one of his feature films.

When wasn't Natalie darling? Funny, Nina popped into my head immediately. Her character made a fool of herself in *Cash McCall* , but what always comes to mind when I think of Nina Foch, is as a little girl watching *Dracula* films and Nina in them. Finance, you're welcome to the thread, you put in a good effort and I don't have one at the moment. .

This woman was a "shimmy" dancer and tap dancer on Broadway in the Ziegfeld Follies, among other top revues from the pre-WWI era through the Jazz Age. Later she went to Hollywood, starring in early WB musicals, doing what she did on Broadway.

Her star never shined brightly after the '20's, but she stayed in showbusiness, including movies and Broadway through the '40's.

This Jazz Age tap/shimmy dancer was so hot that Gershwin, himself, was her rehearsal pianist and wrote songs for her on Broadway.

She appeared in early WB musicals.

Her career faded away by the 40's.

Any takers?

It has more to do with reading so much about Mr. Gershwin, than knowing about Anna Pennington. Although I have read that she wore a size 1 1/2 shoe and was earning over 1,000 a week, in 1920 !!

This singer, actor was never a Legendary Hollywood star, although he did have an MGM contract and appeared in a few films. He became a Legendary Broadway star, because of his beautiful singing voice. He did have the male lead in the Broadway play and movie version of a well known musical. The film co-starred a legendary film actress. Who he?
