You're correct about the unwed mothers but they all did not give up their children and 2 of the movies you name are incorrect. The movies part was extra but  you did get the unwed mothers part correct, so we'll leave it at that.

Stella was married and not unwed when she had her daughter, Bette Davis did not give birth to her son in The Great Lie and anyway she did not give the boy up.  The correct answer would have been

They all were unwed mothers when they gave birth to their children. You did get that and 2 of the movies

BARBARA STANWYCK -  FORBIDDEN

BETTE DAVIS  - THE OLD MAID

LORETTA YOUNG - BORN TO BE BAD

OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND -  TO EACH HIS OWN

I had forgotten all about this question.  It's time to put this to rest.  It really was not a good question, mainly because the answer is so obscure  I was thinking that each actor had an Oscar-winning sister-in-law.  Open thread.

They all are of Lebanese ancestry. In fact, Danny Thomas and Jamie Farr are both from Toledo, Ohio.

And they were all raised either in Orthodox or Roman Catholic churches.

I wanted to use just a few people to show that you can actually have good questions in this category that are not as difficult or as ambiguous as Six Degrees from Kevin Bacon.

Miles, great to see you again, your turn--

What do these folks have in common?

Dick Van Dyke

Tina Fey

Will Ferrell

Shirley Jones

Robert Redford

Kate Hudson

Let's add Nicole Kidman, Oprah Winfrey, Robert De Niro, and Barack Obama to this list.

The stars of "The Goodbye Girl", Richard Dreyfuss, Marsha Mason, and Quinn Cummings, all had this in common.

Obviously, it has nothing to do with careers or relatives.

Hint --  Add these names to the list:   Goldie Hawn, Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Whoopi Goldberg, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Bruce Willis, Emma Thompson, Jerry Seinfeld and Hugh Jackman.

(Again, it's not film/career-related.  It also doesn't involve any of their relatives.)
