British village during WWII

I remember seeing this years ago and my memory is spotty on the details, but I remember I loved it. A British village is essentially cut off from the rest of England during the war, they essentially make the town their own fortress. I'm thinking there may have been some Nazi infiltration somewhere. I have no recollection of the cast

You might want to check out the British film WENT THE DAY WELL? (1942) which has a very similar plot and was written by Graham Greene. It's barely known on this side of the Atlantic, but well regarded in the UK. In many ways, I prefer it to THE EAGLE HAS LANDED. It's been released on DVD in 2005 as part or Anchor Bay's British War Collection set.

For sure, "Went the Day Well?" I've seen it on the big screen.

Its a rousing flick if ever there was one. I hadn't realized it was part of Greene's work. "Eagle Has Landed" is so closely based on it that surely Jack Higgins purchased rights?

I'm a big fan of both movies but the earlier movie has the more powerful and lasting impact.
