Hotel question - Hollywood Celebrity Hotel

'Morning, all, I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.

Quick question about the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel: Is it safe for a woman to walk back to that hotel from the Roosevelt or Grauman's Chinese Theatre at, say, midnight or 1 a.m. after a screening? A friend wants to attend the festival, and altho I offered to have her stay in my room at the Roosevelt, she really wants her own room. Thanks! Wolfie

I would say yes, though I always "err" on the side of caution with a single woman walking _anywhere_ after dark - whether it be Hollywood or Helena.

I had to check the location of the Celebrity Hotel. I haven't been by there for awhile but the street where it is located (Franklin) is "well-travelled" at night. If I was a single woman, I might plan my route back to the hotel by passing through either the Hollywood & Hollywood mall complex or through the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel. I am sure there are entrances/exits on the Franklin Avenue side of both of those buildings.

Because the Celebrity Hotel also appears to be across the street from the Hollywood & Highland Parking garage, any local the two of you might meet while here and who parked in that facility (discounted parking of the TCMFF!) may be willing to escort your friend to the hotel on their way back to their car.

If your friend is leaving a screening at The Egyptian a few blocks farther down the street, I would definitely suggest taking a cab back to the hotel. Cab drivers in Hollywood are encouraged to accept short fares in the neighborhood and are not outrageously expensive.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, Kyle. I'm with you about a woman on her own being careful walking *anywhere* late at night. Who knows if she would attend a screening starting at midnight, but it's good to know that that's an option. Ditto about taking a cab. I know I'd be more than happy to pay extra (including a very nice tip) for a short hop if I needed a cab, especially late at night.

I'll pass on this info ... thanks again! Wolfie
