fxreyman
I always knew Gloria Grahame was your number one, based on what you have written about her in the past. She was a great actress. I would say the following films were my favorites of hers..... It's a Wonderful Life Crossfire In a Lonely Place The Bad and the Beautiful The Big Heat I am currently working on several lists. The first list will take a while. A new list covering the number of actors totaled in my collection. It should be an interesting list now.
movieman1957
I missed Jean Arthur at number 16. (Sorry about that Chief.)
FrankGrimes
I always knew Gloria Grahame was your number one, based on what you have written about her in the past. She was a great actress. When I first joined the board, I listed Barbara Stanwyck as my favorite actress. Then, as time went by, I started to realize that Gloria was really my favorite. I would say the following films were my favorites of hers..... It's a Wonderful Life Crossfire In a Lonely Place The Bad and the Beautiful The Big Heat My list is pretty similar. I've only seen nine of her films. Favorite Gloria Films 1. In a Lonely Place 2. The Big Heat 3. It's a Wonderful Life 4. Odds Against Tomorrow 5. Human Desire 6. Macao 7. The Glass Wall 8. Crossfire 9. Sudden Fear Favorite Gloria Characters 1. Ginny (Crossfire) 2. Debby Marsh (The Big Heat) 3. Maggie Summers (The Glass Wall) 4. Irene Neves (Sudden Fear) 5. Helen (Odds Against Tomorrow) 6. Laurel Gray (In a Lonely Place) 7. Vicki Buckley (Human Desire) 8. Margie (Macao) 9. Violet Bick (It's a Wonderful Life) Favorite Gloria Performances 1. In a Lonely Place 2. The Big Heat 3. Human Desire 4. Crossfire 5. Sudden Fear 6. The Glass Wall 7. Macao 8. Odds Against Tomorrow 9. It's a Wonderful Life I am currently working on several lists. The first list will take a while. A new list covering the number of actors totaled in my collection. It should be an interesting list now. That's intense! I only list a few performers for each film. I'm currently tracking 622 performers.
FrankGrimes
I enjoy your lists. Thank you, Movieman. Like Rey, I really enjoy lists. It find lists to be a quick way to take in the opinions of others. I also like the "going on record" aspect of lists. I would have a hard time making one in that fine an order. I've learned to keep my lists. I look to update them after I watch a movie. One thing we can certainly agree on is that Joan Crawford isn't on my list either. Actually, Joan is on my list. She's not in my top 50 because I haven't seen any of her 30s and 40s flicks. I have liked her "later" performances quite a bit. But she's clearly on the "quiet" side in those. I missed Jean Arthur at number 16. (Sorry about that Chief.) Jean was one of the very first classic actresses that I liked. I liked her right away. She's as good as it gets when it comes to comedy and her romanticism carries a sweetness. She exudes decency.
movieman1957
About the only lists I keep are of films I have seen and then by my favorite people. Unlike you I would have a hard time slipping someone in between 55 and 56. You have great attention to detail.

Unlike you I would have a hard time slipping someone in between 55 and 56. You have great attention to detail. When it comes down to it, 55 and 56 are basically the same. It's 5 and 6 compared to 55 and 56 that are really different. I just like the challenge of thought.

FrankGrimes
I forgot about her in that. She just has no defined personality to me...or look. There have been two times with Ruth where I wondered, "who's that actress?" That's how she landed on my list. That's never going to appeal to me. It's always going to appeal to me!
