Laurel and Hardy Shorts Marathon

Recommended Posts

TCM has advanced to "angel" status as far as this viewer is concerned. The "Our Gang" marathon was the greatest moment in TCM's history, the many silent Gangs were a revelation! Little Farina was the funniest kid in the mid-1920s Our Gangs, terrific! Many of the sound Our Gangs were restrored prints with the original titles! The Laurel and Hardy marathon was just about as good, TCM ran every sound short of the "boys" in one day. The prints were pretty good for the most part, but some of the earlier sound L&Hs are in need of restoration. However, "Below Zero" ended after the first reel, why wasn't the second reel shown? Also the print of "Pardon Us", the feature, had very buzzy sound during about the last 15 minutes, and it wasn't because of Laurel's loose tooth! Maybe TCM can re-run Below Zero and Pardon Us someday in better versions? I'm not complaining, however, the Hal Roach marathons can't be beat, thanks TCM! Why isn't there a "two-reel comedy" channel?
