Also for Joe McCarthy Era:

"Big Jim McLain" 1952 John Wayne

And one of the great one regarding Ol Joe "The Manchurian Candidate"

After seeing a bottle of Heinz Catchup "There are exactly 57 Communist in the State Dept" James Gregory was wonderful

On the baseball post, I forgot to mention: BIG LEAGUER and two Joe E. Brown flicks about the sport, ALIBI IKE and ELMER THE GREAT.

Also, earlier on the Pancho Villa post, I should've included THE TREASURE OF PANCHO VILLA, an RKO picture starring Rory Calhoun. Villa is mentioned, not really shown, in this version.

Also, a note about the Johnny Mercer post. He has numerous credits, plus he often worked on film soundtracks without receiving credit. I chose the four films for which he won an Oscar for Best Song.

Gah. I hated that film--they missed the whole point! Arthur loved them both--that's why he was so torn up, not because he was jealous. Not even Connery could save it for me.
