Old B&W movie 'London After Midnight'

My son tells me about a great old movie, 'London After Midnight'--I'm thinking Lon Chaney is in it--

He tells me it is very good and VERY scary!

Has anyone out there seen or heard of it?

I am new to this forum, and I will try and keep my eye out for any replies.

Thanks!

Welcome to the boards!

LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT (1927) sadly is a lost film. The last known print was destroyed in a vault fire at the MGM studios in the mid 1960s. THE HUNCHBACK OF NATRE DAME (1923) and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (1925) are two of Chaney's best known film roles. Both films are available on DVD and TCM runs both films from time to time.

TCM showed some kind of restored version of London After Midnight a few years back.. I know it was padded out with stills - was there any movie footage? I can't recall.

It was not as good as I hoped it would be. However, it was remade as Mark of the Vampire, and that film is pretty good.
