nitratefiend
"Greed," Erich von Strohheim. Trina is working as a cleaning woman in a school when McTeague comes looking for her, convinced she knows where there is a hidden stash of gold. metz44
excellent reply but greed is often seen and IMHO not obscure another clue glass eye Edited by: metz44 on Feb 4, 2011 9:00 PM
nitratefiend
Thank you for the compliment and the clue, which was sufficient for me to be able to find what is probably the answer by other means. (I won't go into detail, but they involved the Internet.) Looks obscure indeed. Since I can't claim to have seen it, and don't want to cheat, I won't list the title I found here. However, if I'm right, the lead whom you mentioned was on TCM just the other night, starring with her husband (either way you look at it, although I'm not sure they were married at the time). nitratefiend
If the director is Fritz Lang, then I've seen it, but will have to search my memory banks for the name.
nitratefiend
I saw it on German TV (probably on the wonderful Arte channel) as "Der m?de Tod." If that's right, my turn to give a clue: Blind girl and her father try to escape by boat.

Old AMC aired it in the '80s. She winds up being cleaning woman in Hitler's headquarters. The glass eye is a good luck charm, looks something like a large button. nitratefiend
Looks as if another clue may be in order. Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords (but that was indeed where he was coming from, on his way to the boat)
nitratefiend
OK, in hopes that someone else will take a turn to keep this thread alive: The male lead rescued the female lead from a snow bank when she was a baby. Because she is blind, when she grows up she can't see that which makes him appear grotesque to others. The problem with an obscure films game is that there may be really few who have ever seen them. Nonetheless, I'd like to continue trying if others would.

allaboutlana
Thanks. A playboy, who owns his own business, has a ?revolving door? in his pad, so therefore his home life is anything but dull. To add to it, he falls for his new secretary. Edited by: allaboutlana on Feb 17, 2011 9:21 AM
