TVMovie/Miniseries Trivia

Recommended Posts

OK, I'll try one. In the original story of Pymalion, a sculptor falls in love with a statue of a woman that he created. He brings her to life with a kiss. Throughout literature, movies, and television, there have been numerous stories about statues, dolls, and mannequins brought to life. In this particular TV movie a motherless little girl wishes that a beautiful mannequin could come to life and be her mother, if only for a short while. A "fairy godmother" grants her wish, but the new mom will turn back into a mannequin in two weeks, which will be Christmas eve. The mannequin brought to life is played by a singer/actress who is well known for starring in an earlier top musical film. She also sang and danced in a movie with Gene Kelly. Can you name this star and the TV movie?

Thanks. This Oscar-nominated actress, who died too soon, starred as a famous "lady" in a 1970s miniseries. Name the actress and miniseries.

Mid-1970s TVM. A family has followed a dream by moving to a remote farm to live simply. While clearing ground, the father is bitten by a skunk. There's reason to fear rabies. No phone available yet; he sends his wife to drive to get help. His son stays with him, but the father is still worried. He secures himself with locks and chains, and tells his son not to come near him, no matter how urgently he asks. He fears going mad, and doing harm to others.

The father and son at home, the wife in the truck seeking help. The action cuts back-and-forth as troubles crop up at both sites.

Homefront: The fast little stream that runs through the property drops down to a trickle. The son finds an accidental logjam/dam upstream. If it holds for a while then breaks, there could be flooding.

Correct, rosie. George Kennedy, Joanna Pettet. Ironic twist that the animal turned out not to be rabid, and the precaution, although reasonable was not necessary. Harrowing story. The wife's confrontation with hick Romeos added stress to the story.

Four Oscar-winning actors star in this tv movie made in the early 1980s, which was based on a true legal case. The tv movie also was the last appearance made by this actress, who was known for her beauty. Name the tv movie, and for extra points, name all five people I'm referring to.

1990s two-part miniseries, now used as a 200 min TVM. Fact-based. A treatment of domestic abuse. Has a twist. -- A wife complains that she was beaten by her husband. They look at what's in front of them. The husband has bruises on his face and shoulders. The wife has bruises on her wrists, like someone who has been gripped tightly to stop her from hitting. She drops that ploy and uses another approach.

Title? Performers?

The police are not mistaken in their observations or their conclusions. The audience have already witnessed a scene in which the wife repeatedly struck the husband while exclaiming, "Hit me! Hit me!" She did, in fact, want to establish a pretext for accusing her husband of brutality. Now she must switch tactics. She plans to kill him.

The wife is a public school teacher, at HS level. She befriends some troubled students, slowly brings them under her influence. Deftly maneuvers them into a frame of mind to have them commit a homicide on the theory that they are saving her from a cruel husband.

Morning, lavender. That's correct: 1996 TVM, Peter Coyote as the victim / husband. Based on an actual homicide case in Wisconsin.
