What a surprise! Jackie Cooper may have received a Best Actor nom but little Robert Coogan stole the show.The entire cast was perfect.. A TCM premiere that was worthy of viewing!

Here!!! Here!!! I, as well, found "Skippy" a charming little discovery. Far more entertaing and better than the "Little Rascals" movie fiasco which was on recently. Your thread should have been included with the "What was the best movie you watched today".

It is a very good movie. The movie centers on Jackie Cooper but I was surprised that Robert Coogan was first billed at the start. I don't recall seeing him before.

I really enjoyed this film too. Hopefully, TCM show the follow up film Sooky! I'll bet Coogan received top billing in the hopes they had a new Jackie Coogan on their Hands. Very strong resemblence in size, hair, etc.

I too enjoyed Skippy and would love to see Sooky as well. In my opinion Jackie Cooper was a remarkable child actor. His readings were so natural that you would assume he was making up his dialogue as he went along. Coogan, although a cute child who physically fit the character, played his role in a self-conscious way. It does not surprise me that he didn't have a film career after these two movies. As far as billing is concerned, Jackie Cooper was borrowed from MGM for his role here while Coogan was probably being groomed for a stardom that didn't pan out. This would account for the billing which is odd given that Jackie is the titular hero.
