Ascotrudgeracer
"Gun Crazy" aired today and it reminded me of how great, how riveting, this man was! Who can forget him in "Rope!"? When Dall is on screen, I don't think the audience was looking at anyone else. His speech, his expressions...you simply don't get that from anyone else I can think of. thomasterryjr
John Dall reminds me of a poor man's Jimmy Stewart. In fact in some of the close-up shots of John Dall I thought I saw Jimmy Stewart. I have to admit I never heard of Peggy Cummings but she has a "sneaky" gorgeous look to her especially when her hair is disheveled.

So sneaky that you failed to notice that her name was Cummins, not Cummings.
thomasterryjr
I guess I must have been thinking of the Robert Cummings spelling of the last name. Subconsciously I added the extra "g" because Peggy is just "drop-dead" gorgeous.
DownGoesFrazier
GUN CRAZY was just about the best-known film that Cummins appeared in. Dall's film career fizzled because it was thought that he lacked charm (How charming was he supposed to be with roles such as the ones in ROPE and GUN CRAZY?) misswonderly3
I like John Dall. Maybe I'm perverse, but I actually do think he has charm. He's got a great smile, it just beams. Admittedly, this could be seen as beaming but creepy to some, certainly in *Rope* . John Dall is perfect in *Gun Crazy* . He brings a certain vulnerability, a hesitation, to the role that really fits with the character.
kingrat
John Dall is also quite good in THE CORN IS GREEN, as Bette Davis' prize pupil.
Ascotrudgeracer
I shall always wonder if Hitchcock considered Robert Walker for Dall's part in "Rope." As Bruno in "Strangers on a Train" he certainly reminds me of one-half of the killing team in "Rope."
MissMichon
John Dall was amazing! He really creeped me out in Rope!
